Essential Functions of Position
Include, but are not limited to, teaching introductory public speaking, interpersonal communication, argumentation, persuasion, group communication and other courses offered by the department; and teaching in a variety of instructional settings and times (including days, evenings and Saturdays).
Assignments may include classes on the Herndon campus in Clovis, California.
Minimum Qualifications
Include an earned master's degree in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication, or organizational communication: OR bachelor's degree in any of the above and master's degree in drama/theater arts, mass communication, or English; OR a valid California Community College credential; OR the equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency); AND demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience teaching introductory public speaking, interpersonal communication, argumentation, persuasion, group communication and other courses offered by the department; experience in the development of new courses; experience with educational technologies (computer, personal response systems, on-line learning systems); working with students of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff; and related work and professional experience.
Salary and Benefits
Starting rates are $45.49 - $61.78 for lecture and $38.67 - $52.55 for lab Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
