Job description

The CAT/CT Scan Technologist produces computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of specific areas as ordered by a physician.  These cross-sectional images provide detailed information about soft tissues, blood vessels, and bones, which are essential for accurate diagnostics.  The CAT/CT Scan Technologist obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns. The CAT/CT Technologist also performs a variety of specialized tasks involved in the performance of CT scans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures
  • Positions patients for CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary
  • Appropriately sets the controls of the relate equipment; monitors equipment and patient; makes adjustments as necessary
  • Assists radiologist with imaging procedures, starting IV's, and injecting contrast, if applicable
  • May dispense oral contrast to patients for CT scans
  • Assists radiologist with interventional CT procedures
  • Evaluates CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label
  • May be responsible for scheduling patients for procedures and assisting with some clerical functions
  • Charges procedures and supplies used to the patient record appropriately
  • Loads and operates power injections for contrast media administration
  • Maintains accurate patient records for all procedures performed; maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA standards
  • Adheres to all Amergis and worksite rules, policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of experience as a CAT/CT Technologist preferred.
  • Appropriate valid state licensure in diagnostic imaging
  • A.R.R.T. (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) Certification, if required by state regulations or contract specifications
  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice 
  • Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable 
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) 
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements 
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site 
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements  
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required  
  • Computer proficiency required 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
