In collaboration with the Director of Imaging Services, the Lead CT Tech is responsible for delegating, developing and implementing imaging procedures, and overall efficiency, productivity and quality of work performed in the CT department. Collaborates with the Director in coordinating department activities including equipment quality control, ordering supplies, and department performance improvement. Participates in hiring, scheduling, and evaluating staff performance. Oversees efficiency, productivity and quality of work in the department. Provides supervision for all CT clinical and support personnel. Effectively addresses conflict and opportunities for improvement. Facilitates the flow of communication within the hospital while managing operations in a manner which results in effective provision of care and/or services. Possesses the knowledge of procedures, protocols and policies related to the CT and Diagnostic Imaging departments. Performs these duties using independent judgement, ingenuity, and initiative. This position requires a high level of technical and informatics knowledge and skill, and the ability to work in close cooperation with members of a team of physicians, nurses and other technical staff.
I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Reports to DI Director.
2. Monitors workflow at both campuses and adjusts staffing as needed. Coordinates scheduling of add-on patients.
3. Informs DI Director and appropriate service personnel of system problems and documents accurately and completely.
4. Ability to interact with internal and external customers and problem-solving skills for when patient or personnel issues arise. Possession of exceptional problem-solving skills as related to CT.
5. Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff, internal and external customers in a professional, service oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
6. Implement protocol changes and update protocols in scanner.
7. Maintain current policies and procedures in CT.
8. CT Safety education to all necessary staff.
9. Complete ACR accreditation application and participate in the ACR processes and guidelines for both campuses.
10. Promotes positive teamwork within CT department.
Standard Supervisor Level Responsibilities:
1. Supervises assigned personnel including performance evaluations, scheduling, orientation, and training. Makes recommendations on employee hires, transfers, promotions, salary changes, discipline, terminations, and similar actions. Resolves grievances and other personnel problems within position responsibilities.
2. Coordinates the assignment of tasks and helps resolve technical and operational problems. Evaluates the impact of solutions to ensure goals are achieved.
3. Provides effective direction, guidance, and leadership over the staff for effective teamwork and motivation, and fosters the effective integration of efforts with system-wide initiatives.
4. Encourages and supports diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, respect, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.
5. Integrates diversity into departmental objectives, such as hiring, promotions, training, vendor selections, etc.
6. Participates in performance improvement initiatives and demonstrates the use of quality improvement in daily operations.
7. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies such as Joint Commission, DPH, etc. Develops and maintains procedures necessary to meet regulatory requirements.
8. Ensures that department complies with hospital established policies, quality assurance programs, safety, and infection control policies and procedures.
9. Ensures adequate equipment and supplies for department.
10. Develops and maintains established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
11. Ensures compliance to all health and safety regulations and requirements.
12. Performs similar or related duties as required or directed.

II. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Level of knowledge equivalent to that acquired through completion of an Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology.
2. Registration or registry eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
3. Licensure to operate radiology equipment in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
4. BLS certification required before completion of 90 day probationary period.
Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. 2-5 years of CT experience with progressive responsibilities.
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
