Michigan Sugar Company has an seasonal opportunity for a Truck Weigh Person Leader, located at the Bay City Factory, 2600 S. Euclid Ave., Bay City, MI 48706.
JOB SUMMARY
The employee is responsible for overseeing the Scale House to ensure safety of workers and fluency of operations during our beet-receiving season at factory proper and outlying piling ground locations. Employee is also responsible for weighing vehicles and collecting tickets to record delivered material data.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Staff and schedule employees as required, and to train, oversee, evaluate and develop team members.
  • Keep simple records.
  • Coordinate and schedule Scale House employees on a weekly basis.
  • Work with supervision to identify new opportunities for growth and improvement as well as potential failures through continuous improvement observations.
  • Help maintain compliance with good safety standards.
  • Performs operating sequences to receive and exit vehicles through incoming and outgoing scales.
  • Assists in checking all components of the weigh scale system to assure everything is in working order.
  • Maintains a control environment in scale house to ensure proper operation of the computerized scale system.
  • Assists in performing key starting instructions on command printer as necessary.
  • Operates traffic control devices to allow vehicles to proceed to pilers and exit from facility.
  • Issues receipts to vehicle driver and collects tickets.
  • Performs minor maintenance and repair work on scale computers and printers.
  • Answers phone, record messages and provide routine information.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Michigan or ability to get licensed in the State of Michigan
  • Working knowledge of computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, e-mail and database software
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate sufficiently to perform the essential tasks of the position
  • Prior Scale House experience
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
