Role Overview / Purpose and Scope

The Scale Operator is responsible for diligently and accurately weighing products to customer specifications while maintaining superior quality standards for the assigned area. This role requires strong attention to detail, accurate documentation, and clear communication with department leads, supervisors, and upper management.

The Scale Operator supports production operations by operating scale and office equipment, completing paperwork accurately and on time, and helping ensure product information is recorded and communicated effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately weigh products according to customer specifications and assigned area requirements.
  • Enter data using a keyboard and maintain accurate production and scale records.
  • Operate production equipment as well as office equipment, including fax machine, copier, 10-key calculator, scale, computer, and email.
  • Complete paperwork accurately, neatly, and in a timely manner.
  • Read and understand processing paperwork and production documentation.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with supervisors, associates, department leads, and upper management.
  • Conduct self with a high level of professionalism when interacting with supervisors and associates.
  • Analyze and calculate data using basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Complete assigned tasks with accuracy and efficiency, with regard to time and resources.
  • Work assigned hours, including overtime and some weekends as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • General mathematical ability required to perform the job.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to work assigned days and shifts, including some weekends.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to document information accurately.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with department leads, supervisors, associates, and upper management.

New team members must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screening post-offer and prior to the start of their employment. The Immigration Reform and Control Act requires that verification of employment eligibility be documented for all new employees by the end of their third day of work.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Travel

Work is performed on-site in a production environment at the Harrisonburg, VA facilities. The team member may work around production equipment and must follow all applicable safety, quality, and operational procedures. Assigned hours may include overtime and some weekends based on business needs.
