Overview and Impact
We are looking for a Scale Operator for our West Nyack Quarry. This employee operates an industrial truck scale to weigh inbound and outbound vehicles. They are responsible for recording information such as truck type, gross vehicle weights, customer, and product information for billing purposes. They must have the ability to communicate well, exhibit strong problem-solving and customer service skills, work safely, and demonstrate leadership qualities. Must have the ability to work at all Tilcon NY locations where and when needed. The hours for this role are 5am-3pm.
Core Responsibilities
Scale Operations
  • Operate the scale system to accurately weigh incoming and outgoing vehicles.
  • Issue tickets via Command platforms and ensure proper record of transactions.
  • Verify that material, truck number and destination of material are accurate for Tilcon delivered orders and customer pick up.

Data Entry and Reporting
  • Record weight accurately into system for billing and inventory purposes.
  • Produce point of sale reports as directed.
  • Daily preparation of tickets, reports, and credit card receipts for Accounts Receivable department.

Customer Service
  • Greet and gather necessary information from drivers.
  • Demonstrate why Tilcon NY is the supplier of choice.
  • Dispatch trucks using the daily schedule for delivered loads.

Safety and Compliance
  • Comply with all Tilcon NY and CRH safety procedures and protocol, alerting appropriate supervisors of unsafe conditions, as necessary.
  • Confirm that vehicles do not exceed legal weight limit and remain in compliance.

Equipment Maintenance/Troubleshooting
  • Trouble shoot scale, printer and computer hardware issues and notify appropriate personnel as needed.

Other Duties
  • Communicate with and support on-site operations, sales, and dispatch departments to ticket accurately.
  • Work with order entry associates and communicate schedule discrepancies and delivery site issues.
  • Regular and timely attendance is required
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Must work scale hours Monday through Friday and weekends as needed.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Required Education/Experience/Skills
  • High School or its equivalent, plus at least 6 months' experience in clerical work.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • State Certified Weighmaster License (scheduled upon hire)
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and company procedures as outlined in company policies, including but not limited to wearing PPE at all times.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with and work professionally with other personnel.
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office). Some minor trouble shooting.
  • Manage multiple tasks concurrently and perform under pressure.
  • Must be able work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Should be assertive, self-motivated and be able to multi-task.
  • Experience in customer service and end of day reconciliation
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be able to work 3rd shift.

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Familiarity with basic routes in Southern, Northern & Central NJ and New York
  • Knowledge of Command Software
