What You'll Do:
  • Troubleshoots, evaluates and identifies system functioning, attempts repair or refers repair to specialist
  • Performs pipefitting installation and repair work for variety of District HVAC systems
  • Welds or screws different types of pipe (e.g., fit screwed pipe) in system
  • Soft solder or silver solders copper materials/pipes
  • Fabricates, repairs, and installs HVAC system piping; rigging heavy loads and coordinating with other shop staff
  • Diagnoses repairs; modifies and performs repairs using blueprints and schematics; and considering building codes (e.g., UBC) standards
  • Designs and modifies existing District systems
  • Performs work and cross trains in at least one other trade, as an apprentice
  • Assists with snow removal efforts on a 24 hour on-call basis and responds to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Communicates and coordinates with staff at work site and other shop staff
  • Prepares and cleans up job site (e.g., erecting scaffolding), taking into consideration safety concerns of self and others (e.g., students, employees), and disposes of waste and flammable materials.
  • Reviews work orders, prioritizes, and determine supplies for repair and purchases supplies using District purchase order system
  • Under direction of L3 (Master or Multi-Skilled), may assist or perform the following functions: Bids on work requested by schools and prepares cost estimates; trains and mentors other shop staff; inspects work of independent contractors and identifies deficiencies; communicates with project manager about correcting deficiencies according to code (e.g., city, state) and DPS specifications
What You'll Need:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • L2: Four (4) years experience
  • Must have and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License and meet district insurability standards.
  •  Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education. 
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
