Job description

Amentum, a global leader in critical mission support, engineering, technology, and national security solutions, is seeking a SCADA Operator (Electrical) to support a government contract award based in Kings Bay, Georgia.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • Under minimal supervision, works at a journeyman level monitoring the electrical transmission, distribution, and power generation systems as well as the entire SCADA system for proper operation receives trouble calls from all commands and initiates work orders in both PWMA and MAXIMO computer systems.

  • Responsible for calling in necessary craftsperson to facilitate repairs on priority and emergency trouble calls occurring outside of normal working hours, on weekends, or holidays.

  • Maintains various operational records and logs and produces operational reports.

  • During emergencies and natural disasters, oversees the flow of information and reports, coordinates actions when necessary, and ensure response plans are followed.

  • Interfaces closely with the Duty manager to ensure key operational matters are performed, communicated and documented.

  • Electrical SCADA Operators shall monitor and oversee the system, receive system alarms, locate trouble areas, dispatch duty electricians to trouble areas, direct and coordinate on base switching, coordinate SUBASE and Georgia Power (GPS) switching.

  • Remotely start up and shut down emergency generators to limit SUBASE demand during GPC power curtailment and during local and impending storm conditions and perform remote switching and control when requested to support field electricians.

  • Continually monitors the real time pricing from GPC and retrieves the daily retail kWh prices for real time pricing from GPC.

  • Assists in performing SCADA PMI; identifies SCADA operational malfunctions; requests corrective actions and regularly reports uncorrected malfunctions. Possesses a basic understanding of the Water/Wastewater and Thermal SCADA systems in order to provide proper response to alarm conditions of those systems.

  • Understands the Gas Curtailment protocols in the even the gas company sends the gas curtailment notice directly to the Utility Control Center.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications - External

  • High School Education or equivalent.

  • Must possess five years verifiable experience as a journey level transmission and/or distribution electrician. Experience must include the installation, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of both energized and de-energized overhead and underground electrical systems.

  • Must have working knowledge of all operational requirements associated with various types of field equipment such as transformers, alarm switches, breakers, vacuum breakers, oil circuit breakers.

  • Must be able to quickly diagnose and respond to emergency situations by performing remote or field switching as the emergency situation dictates.

  • Must have verifiable working knowledge of personal computers and computer systems and be familiar with standard operating systems and office software.

  • Must be capable of producing written procedures and switching orders in accordance with standard operating and safe switching practices.

  • Must be able to develop and generate reports; identify problems with the system so the proper corrective actions can be taken.

  • Must have and wear hard-toed safety shoes which meet ASTM F2413-05 standards when required, in areas outside of the SCADA area.

  • Must possess a valid state driver's license.

  • Most possess tools of the trade.

  • Must satisfactorily complete the utility specific practical factor sheets for Electrical, Water/ Wastewater, and Thermal functions within 90 days of selection.

  • Successful candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must continually meet eligibility requirements for access to all areas of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
