Responsibilities
  • Maintain SCA contracting standards, boilerplate language, and negotiation playbooks to strengthen protections related to pricing, supply continuity, audit rights, force majeure, liability, and other contract terms as needed.
  • Partner with Category Managers and serve as the senior business lead in negotiations with supplier legal teams, driving resolution of contractual issues while balancing risk and business objectives.
  • Negotiate high-value supplier agreements, amendments, extensions, and strategic partnerships across Master Purchase/Service Agreements, national, and regional contracts.
  • Support Category Managers in executing contracting strategies that support cost reduction, supply assurance, operational performance, and long-term supplier partnerships.
  • Review, redline, and approve contractual terms, ensuring consistency with organizational policies and risk tolerance with an emphasis on speed to execution while maximizing value for SCA.
  • Lead contract governance initiatives that improve contract cycle times, standardize terms and conditions, and increase adoption of preferred contractual language.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial, operational, financial, and regulatory risks embedded within supplier agreements.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Operations, Finance, Clinical Leadership, Compliance, and Legal teams to align contracting strategies with enterprise objectives.
  • Mentor and develop contracting and sourcing professionals while fostering advanced negotiation capabilities across Supply Chain.
  • Manage strategic relationships and develop new suppliers to ensure best-in-class cost and performance using world-class techniques (supplier score cards, supply chain risk assessment, etc.)
  • Assess and monitor supplier performance by developing meaningful technical and financial objectives (Scorecard) that are measurable and achievable. Develop and implement action plans with follow-up for suppliers failing to meet performance expectations.
  • Manage and develop new procedures to ensure efficient administration of contracts, including appropriate filing and record management and professional purchasing practices and techniques.
  • Understand, communicate, and effectively promote the value proposition of the sourcing strategies for SCA.
  • Addresses operational areas of weakness (i.e. financial control, customer satisfaction, cycle times, etc.) by implementing appropriate short and long-term remedies.
  • Ability to navigate and execute in a complex environment.

Qualifications
  • JD degree required.
  • 7-10+ years progressive strategic sourcing and category management experience.
  • Strong understanding of the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) or healthcare industry preferred.
  • Experience working with Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) preferred
  • Expert in Microsoft applications with working knowledge of industry standard contract management, materials management, and reporting software.
