Director of Transmission OperationsLocation: Atlanta, GAPosition Type: Full-time, Exempt

Job Description

• Operate electronic equipment associated with worldwide distribution of video, audio and data in the Encompass Digital Media Technical Operations Center.

• Perform Digital Satellite Uplinks and Downlinks.

• Perform Satellite Crosspoles in compliance with FCC Guidelines.

• Operate various record/playback servers and Video machines

• Operate RF and Video routing infrastructure

• Work with the Global bookings team for modification of Fibre and Satellite space.

• Monitor Network & Occasional feeds for quality control

• Review shift reports of direct staff

• Have the desire and ability to stay current with the evolving technology in the rapidly changing communications industry.

  • General understanding of IP Networks and their use in transport of video and transport streams.

• Supervise direct reports

• Responsible for all Teleport operations, daily reports, SOP’s, signal flow descriptions

• Troubleshoot issues with staff and report issues to engineering and senior management

  • Daily interaction and communication with EDM global facilities

• Willing and able to work flexible hours including holidays, nights and weekends.

• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• 7 years of experience working in a Satellite or Broadcast communications environment.

• Previous supervisory experience a plus

• Minimum two years of Electronic theory or Communications in a College or Technical School

• Operational knowledge of Encoders, Up-converters, Modulation Schemes, Amplifiers, Antenna controllers and IRD’s.

• Must have excellent communication skills

• Must be familiar with waveform monitor, vector scope and spectrum analyzer

• Proficient in using Windows and/or Macintosh computers and the Internet

• Basic knowledge of Synamedia and Arris compression systems

• Strong troubleshooting skills of transmit chains and associated equipment.

• Understand world television standards
