Role Overview:

As a member of the Global Customer Solutions (GCS) Group, you will provide technical support for the pre- and post-sales activities of Telesat's product lines and technical consultation to the Global Sales groups.  As a champion of new technology, you will develop effective solutions to meet customer communication needs leveraging Telesat's Lightspeed constellation.  The position's primary role is to support the Latin American (LATAM) region teams, but will also assist across Telesat's global presence.

The GCS team is responsible for the gathering of requirements from customers, design of cost-effective Lightspeed satellite and terrestrial communication link solutions, specifying both the space and ground segment components, and presenting solutions to customers.  Additionally, you will be offering technology recommendations and advice, performing modeling and simulations, and conducting test and evaluation demonstrations aiming to secure sales and customer satisfaction. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, estimate cost, and propose Lightspeed communications solutions based on customer requirements
  • Work directly with the Global Sales Team and prospective customers' Engineering contacts to validate requirements and technical details
  • Prepare, present proposals to, and review requirements directly with customers
  • Lead, attend, and actively participate in customer meetings
  • Identify new solutions within Telesat's Lightspeed product portfolio which could lead to new revenue opportunities with customers
  • Work directly with customers to plan upgrades, review performance of networks, and to resolve service issues
  • Collaborate with Telesat's Marketing and Product teams to identify available network capacity
  • Support projects from design to implementation
  • Update and maintain multiple databases as well as other Engineering information management systems
  • Actively participate in trade shows, customer events, and technical demonstrations in presentation roles
Education & Experience Required:
  • Bachelor degree or comparable experience in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Technology, Telecommunications, or Electrical Engineering required
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering or connectivity solutions
  • Experience with satellite communications, RF link analysis, and RF hardware preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Inquisitive nature and eagerness to learn and explore new concepts
  • Positive outlook in meeting challenges and working to a high level
  • Confident when presenting to peers and management within the organization
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Analytical skills with the ability to solve technical and business issues
  • Ability to foster and maintain good working relationships with peers, partners, and customers
  • Previous experience supporting Carrier, Mobile Network Operator (MNO), and Wholesale accounts.  Working for a Carrier or an MNO would be desired
  • A professional demeanor and appearance with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task and work in a team environment.
  • Industry certifications such as Cisco CCNA, CCNP, Juniper JNCIA/ENT preferable
  • Experience and understanding of computer hardware, software, and operating systems
  • Working knowledge of MEF 3.0 standards and implementations
  • Working knowledge of:
    • OSI Layer 1 (Optical, HFC, WDM)
    • OSI Layer 2 & 3 (Switching, STP, VLAN, MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, IP, etc.)
    • Protocol acceleration, web caching, traffic management, firewalls, VPN, and security related hardware and software
    • 3G/4G/5G cellular networking technologies
    • Network management platforms (SolarWinds, WhatsUp Gold, etc.)
Other Requirements:
  • Fluent English is required and Spanish or Portuguese is highly desirable (written and spoken)
  • Ability and willingness to travel to attend customer meetings and events across the region
