Satellite Communications RF Systems Technician

Location: Plano, TX

About the Role

Airbus DS Government Solutions, Inc is seeking a skilled Satellite Communications RF Systems Technician with experience in satellite communications (satcom) to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting satellite communication systems and associated ground equipment. You will play a key part in ensuring reliable connectivity for mission-critical operations across commercial, government, and enterprise customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and test VSAT, satellite terminals, antennas, modems, RF equipment, and related infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and resolve RF, IF, IP, and power-related issues quickly and effectively.
  • Support network integration, system upgrades, and performance optimization.
  • Prepare technical documentation (install reports, service logs, test results).
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards
  • Provide support for customer training on system operation and basic troubleshooting.
  • Provide support for sales demonstrations, on or off site.
  • Collaborate with engineering, NOC, and operations teams to resolve escalated issues.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Technical degree, military training, or equivalent experience in electronics, telecommunications, or satellite communications.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in satcom, RF, or telecom industries.
  • Proficiency with test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, power meters, and network analyzers.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently under challenging conditions.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours.
  • Valid US driver’s license and/or passport.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance

Preferred:

  • Understanding of RF theory, satellite link budgets, and IP networking fundamentals
  • Experience with Ka-band, Ku-band, X-band, C-band, and S-band systems.
  • Familiarity with satellite hubs, modems (iDirect, Comtech, Newtec, Hughes, etc.), and large-aperture antennas.
  • PC imaging and scanning.
  • Experience supporting military, maritime, or remote industrial operations.
