About the job

The Midtier Platform team in the SAS9 division is looking for a Senior SDET. The Midtier team is large in both size and scope. This team will contribute to all midtier Java efforts and support all partner engineer teams in both the current SAS9 team and LOBs. Their primary functions will be to secure the platform, improve the quality and performance and respond to field issues. This team will also need to modernize frameworks, update delivery configurations and deployments, and automate testing to all extents possible. The work by this team is fast-paced and the impact spans across multiple SAS9 releases, ship events, solution teams, and divisions. 

In this role, you will update our current large test suite as the technology and the run-time code changes. You may also design and develop new code or use new technology to modernize the existing code. You will lead and provide guidance to junior developers. You may also troubleshoot and triage issues and interact with SAS Technical Support to assist customers.

As a Sr SDET, you will:

  • Maintain and create high quality test automation and provides key data points to support metrics-based decision making.
  • Produce and analyze metrics that illustrate the quality of applications and develop insight that drives the direction of quality engineering.
  • Work with team to promptly triage test failures with precision and accuracy, maintaining the health of the build pipeline.
  • Work collaboratively with development, product, operations, and support peers to encourage quality, as a key design element in all work efforts.
  • Engage in code reviews for product, test, and infrastructure code.
  • Provide mentorship through code reviews for both product, test, and infrastructure code
  • Serve as a mentor to quality engineers and developers
  • Be encouraged to participate in open-source projects on behalf of SAS.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • 8+ years of software testing/development/programming experience. 
  • Knowledge of Java and Spring in both Windows and Linux environment
  • Strong knowledge of test framework and JUnit test
  • Experience using CVS, Gerrit, Git, or GitHub, Eclipse for source code management and code review
  • Knowledge of building and maintaining automations in Jenkins
  • Effective communication and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong learning agility - able and willing to learn more on a continuous basis.
  • Strong understanding of software development tools, methodologies, and principles 
  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
