Hospitals Sales Engineer

 

Spirax Sarco is seeking a highly motivated Sales Engineer to drive growth in the U.S. hospital vertical by identifying, diagnosing, and solving steam and thermal-energy challenges.

The role is responsible for leading consultative engagement within hospital environments to drive adoption of Spirax Sarco solutions. This position partners closely with hospital stakeholders, engineering firms, contractors and channel partners to deliver compliant, highvalue solutions that support operational efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate excels in valuebased selling, thrives in complex healthcare ecosystems, and consistently upholds Spirax Sarco's values and safety standards.

  Purpose

Our Purpose is to enhance the operational efficiency, sustainability, and patient care quality of hospitals by providing tailored steam and thermal energy solutions

  Key Responsibilities
  • Lead consultative discovery sessions with hospital stakeholders to identify performance, compliance, and operational improvement opportunities
  • Deliver core Spirax Sarco hospital services and drive successful conversion of identified solutions
  • Expand share within targeted Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs) and individual hospital accounts
  • Collaborate with engineering firms, contractors, and other external partners to ensure accurate design, installation, and project execution
  • Ensure all solutions and activities align with applicable hospital regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Promote and demonstrate Spirax Sarco's values, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism
  Required Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of steam systems, water management, or utilities operations and design within industrial or healthcare settings
  • Proven competency in valuebased and consultative selling methodologies
  • Ability to effectively navigate complex hospital organizational structures and influence decisionmaking across multiple stakeholder groups
  • Familiarity with healthcare compliance with drivers and regulatory considerations.
  • Selfdriven, dynamic, highachieving professional with strong teamwork, communication, and relationshipbuilding skills

Experience & Qualifications

  • 3 to 7+ years of experience in technical sales, applications engineering, or project/solution development across industrial or healthcare environments. Experience may include work in hospital facilities, EPC firms, engineering consultancies, or contractors supporting steam, utilities, or modernization initiatives.
  • Proven ability to translate service findings, assessments, and testing insights into clear recommendations and capital project opportunities, driving both operational and strategic value.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with engineering firms, contractors, and facility teams to influence design decisions, support project planning, and ensure successful implementation.
  • Experience coordinating or supporting new construction, renovation, lifecycle replacement, or utility system upgrades - not limited to capital projects, but with an understanding of how utilities and services integrate into broader facility operations.
  • Strong project coordination or project management skills that support planning, execution, and follow through across multiple stakeholders and workstreams.

  What You Bring
  • Technical and commercial experience in healthcare utilities, sterilization, HVAC, domestic hot water and/or steam applications
  • Advanced consultative selling skills with the ability to uncover and shape customer needs
  • Proven track record of converting service insights into actionable opportunities
  • Familiarity with AAMI ST79/ST108, ASHE guidelines, and other hospital regulations and standards
  • Experience collaborating with engineering firms and contractors across healthcare projects
  What You'll Do
  • Design and complete sales plan and account planning for your territory
  • Develop hospital accounts within your territory by using both hunter and farmer sales approaches aligned with the Hospitals Strategy and Plan
  • Determine sales potential of companies, prioritize accounts, and develop action plans to penetrate the market, including cold calling and canvassing techniques
  • Conduct on-site discovery to find opportunities for assessments, surveys, and testing
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners through structured consultative selling
  • Provide new hospital clients with a comprehensive understanding of Spirax Sarco's steam and thermal energy solutions, emphasizing patient safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance
  • Drive service-led opportunities that convert insights into capital project growth
  • Partner closely with engineering companies and construction contractors to influence building and project decisions
  • Maintain strong activity discipline, ensuring consistent engagement and pipeline development
  • Actively participate in sales on-boarding program, sales training and hospitals focused education programs
  • Engage with ASHE local chapter and healthcare industry bodies supporting their education programs, bringing innovation and collecting the voice of the customer
  • Ensure compliance with hospital regulations, standards, and safety requirements
  • Train end users and channel partners on Spirax Sarco products and services through informal sessions, lunch & learn sessions and formal presentations
  • Ensure customers receive accurate and timely quotations for products/services and expedite orders as needed
  • Ability to conduct "boardroom" style presentations for customers showcasing value creation and return on investment
