Job description

SAP ABAP Consultant
An SAP Consultant designs, develops, and maintains custom applications and integrations within the SAP ecosystem. They translate business requirements into scalable technical specifications, build system enhancements, and optimize SAP performance for enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Application Development: Design and develop custom reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, and workflows (RICEFW).
  • Cloud & S/4HANA Extension: Build side-by-side extensions using SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP), and Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP).
  • System Integration: Develop secure, scalable integrations between SAP and non-SAP systems using OData services, CDS Views, and APIs.
  • Collaboration: Partner with functional consultants and enterprise architects to translate business needs into executable technical designs.
  • Troubleshooting & Optimization: Conduct unit testing, debug programs, perform performance tuning (e.g., using ST05), and ensure adherence to clean-core architecture principles.
  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, test cases, and functional specs throughout the project lifecycle. 
Core Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: Typically 3–5+ years of dedicated ABAP development experience, including full-lifecycle implementation projects.
  • Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of modern ABAP syntax, Object-Oriented ABAP (OO ABAP), Core Data Services (CDS), Fiori Extensibility, and SAP NetWeaver.
  • Business Knowledge: Understanding of core functional SAP modules such as FICO, MM, SD, or PP to effectively communicate with functional technologies.
