Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) – Secret Clearance

Salary: $100,000–$115,000 per year
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Location: Remote – Must reside in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area (DMV)
Onsite: Occasional reporting to Washington, DC or Sterling, VA as required
Schedule: Saturday–Tuesday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM
Clearance: Active SECRET clearance required
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required

Senior Oracle DBA – Federal IT Environment

We are seeking an experienced Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to support a major federal IT operations and maintenance program serving mission-critical applications and databases.

This is primarily a remote position, but applicants must currently reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan areaand be available for occasional onsite work in Washington, DC or Sterling, Virginia.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on Oracle DBA experience, including Oracle 19c, RAC, ASM, GoldenGate, Data Guard, RMAN, database upgrades, patching, security, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Active U.S. Government SECRET clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Currently reside in the Washington, DC / Northern Virginia / Maryland DMV area
  • Able to work the required Saturday–Tuesday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM schedule
  • Minimum 3 years of Oracle DBA or closely related Oracle database experience
  • Strong production experience with Oracle enterprise database environments

Candidates who do not currently possess an active SECRET clearance will not qualify.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize enterprise Oracle database environments.
  • Implement and maintain database availability, performance, security, integrity, and recoverability.
  • Perform database performance tuning, including indexes, SQL queries, and database configurations.
  • Administer Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, GoldenGate, and RMAN environments.
  • Support Oracle database installation, configuration, patching, upgrading, troubleshooting, and production operations.
  • Perform and support upgrades from Oracle 11g/12c to Oracle 19c.
  • Support Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and Oracle database security.
  • Develop and maintain stored procedures, triggers, SQL scripts, and database administration utilities.
  • Configure and support database backups, transaction logs, replication, and disaster recovery.
  • Develop customized database monitoring and reporting solutions.
  • Create and maintain reporting using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and related tools.
  • Administer additional database platforms when required, including Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
  • Maintain database security controls and enterprise security hygiene.
  • Assist with remediation of critical vulnerabilities, high-severity CVEs, and known exploited vulnerabilities.
  • Develop database administration standards, policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot complex production database issues and recommend long-term solutions.
  • Review technical designs, documentation, reports, and system integration requirements.
  • Support database designers, engineers, developers, and systems analysts.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to less-experienced database team members.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Active SECRET security clearance
  • Ability to obtain a TOP SECRET clearance
  • Minimum 3 years of Oracle DBA or Oracle-related experience
  • At least 3 years of Oracle 11g and/or Oracle 12c DBA experience
  • Hands-on production experience with Oracle 19c RDBMS
  • Experience with Oracle 19c/21c hub GoldenGate
  • Experience with full-life-cycle Oracle implementations in production environments
  • Experience upgrading Oracle 11g to Oracle 19c
  • Experience with Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)
  • Strong knowledge of several of the following:
    • Oracle RAC
    • ASM
    • GoldenGate
    • Data Guard
    • RMAN
    • Oracle patching
    • Oracle database security
    • Performance tuning
    • Backup and recovery
  • Experience creating customized monitoring reports using Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a mission-critical production environment
  • Ability to mentor and guide junior technical personnel

Preferred Qualifications

Additional consideration will be given to candidates with:

  • Oracle 11g/12c-to-19c upgrade experience
  • Oracle database containerization experience
  • Oracle Cloud experience, either public or private cloud
  • Oracle Engineered Systems experience such as Exadata or Sun SuperCluster
  • Previous experience serving as a Database Operations Lead or Senior DBA
  • Federal government or DoD database support experience

Education / Experience

Candidates must meet one of the following combinations:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of relevant experience
  • Master's degree plus 6 years of relevant experience
  • Associate's degree plus 10 years of relevant experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 12 years of relevant experience

Compensation

$100,000–$115,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
