Job description

Title: SAP PPDS Consultant

Location: Normal, Illinois 5 Days from Office

Mode: Contract Long Term

 Job Description:

Key skills: REM_ Repetitive equipment manufacturing process along with variant configuration and pure PPDS

1. Solution Design and Implementation

  • Lead the design, configuration, and implementation of SAP Plan to Produce (Pl2PR) processes, including Production Planning (PP) and SAP PP/DS modules.
  • Develop end-to-end SAP solutions for production planning, demand management, detailed scheduling, capacity planning, and shop floor control.
  • Implement advanced planning techniques within PP/DS to optimize production schedules, reduce lead times, and enhance resource utilization.
  • Collaborate with other SAP modules (e.g., MM, SD, QM, WM) to ensure seamless integration and optimization across the supply chain.

2. Requirements Gathering and Analysis

  • Engage with business stakeholders to understand production planning and manufacturing requirements.
  • Conduct process assessments and workshops to identify gaps and opportunities for process optimization within the SAP environment.
  • Translate business requirements into technical and functional SAP specifications.

3. Project Leadership and Management

  • Serve as the lead consultant on SAP PP/DS and Plan to Produce projects, managing timelines, resources, and deliverables.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, ensuring successful implementation of SAP solutions.
  • Develop detailed project plans, manage risks, and ensure that solutions are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

4. System Configuration and Development

  • Configure SAP PP and PP/DS modules to meet business requirements, including master data, production versions, heuristics, MRP, capacity planning, and detailed scheduling.
  • Work with ABAP developers to design and develop custom enhancements, reports, and interfaces when required.
  • Implement PP/DS algorithms to improve production scheduling and execution efficiency.

5. Integration and Data Management

  • Ensure integration between PP/DS and other SAP modules (e.g., MM, QM, APO, SCM) to support efficient data flow across the supply chain.
  • Lead data migration efforts related to production planning, including master data and transactional data.
  • Ensure proper integration with SAP S/4HANA and external systems, including MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and other production technologies.

 6. Support and Optimization

  • Provide post-go-live support for production planning and scheduling processes, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts and perform root cause analysis for production planning and execution issues.
  • Continuously optimize SAP PP and PP/DS functionalities to enhance production efficiency and adaptability.

7. Training and Knowledge Transfer

  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for end-users and internal teams to ensure successful adoption of SAP PP/DS solutions.
  • Create and maintain project documentation, including process flows, functional and technical specifications, and training materials.
  • Provide knowledge transfer to internal teams to enable long-term support and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Industrial Engineering, Information Technology, or related fields.
  • SAP certification in SAP PP and/or SAP PP/DS is must.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in SAP PP and PP/DS configuration and implementation.
  • Strong hands-on experience with full life cycle SAP Plan to Produce (Pl2PR) implementations, including blueprinting, design, configuration, testing, and go-live support.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA and its integration with PP/DS modules is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning, and detailed scheduling within various industry sectors (e.g., discrete manufacturing, process industries, automotive, etc.).

Techno-Functional Skills:

  • Good knowledge of SAP IS AUTO APO and PP
  • Good experience of SAP APO and integration with R3 PP and costing / finance areas
  • Complex Variant Configuration and BoM experience including iPPE
  • Manufacturing experience including Make to Order, Make to Stock, Engineer to Order, Knock
  • Down Kits
  • Automotive assembly plant and inbound supply chain experience a large plus
  • Full lifecycle experience in large scale implementation.
  • Hands on Experience in IS-Auto (FLO, ACT , PVS)
  • Planning in ECC w.r.t. APO Planning.
  • Error Handling in CIF
  • Hands on Experience in PPDS, Sequencing , MMP Set-up, Control Cycle Set-up, Rapid Planning Matrix, Restriction Planning.
  • EWM system integration with APO (Advanced Planning and Optimising)
  • Experience of defining and resourcing support teams
  • Excellent communications skills and proven ability to manage/balance senior stakeholder interests
  • Must have knowledge areas are: REM, Descrete manufaturing and processes, BOM, Routing, Operation, MRP, Variant configuration, Object depednecies, QM module, Master data preparation and uploading, Lot size procedure, PP integration with EWM, Planned orders, Reporting points, COGI, Post process, EWM genral ideas, APO, iPPE, MES integration points
