Job description

You will play a key role in driving our "Clean Core" strategy by utilizing SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) to build side-by-side extensions, leveraging modern ABAP development paradigms like the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP).

Responsibilities
  • API Development & Integration: Design, build, and expose robust, secure, and scalable SAP APIs (OData v2/v4, RESTful APIs, SOAP, RFCs, and BAPIs) to support seamless integration with external applications.
  • BTP Extension Development: Develop side-by-side and on-stack extensions on SAP BTP (using the SAP BTP ABAP Environment / Steampunk) to keep the core S/4HANA ERP clean.
  • Modern ABAP Development: Write clean, optimized, and modern Object-Oriented ABAP (OO-ABAP) code. Develop business objects and services using RAP (ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model).
  • Data Modeling: Create and optimize complex Core Data Services (CDS) Views, Table Functions, and AMDP (ABAP Managed Database Procedures) on SAP HANA.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with middleware teams (SAP Integration Suite / CPI), frontend developers (SAPUI5/Fiori), and business analysts to translate functional integration requirements into technical designs.
  • Testing & Code Quality: Write automated unit tests using the ABAP Unit Testing framework to ensure high code quality, reliability, and regression protection.
  • Performance Tuning: Analyze and resolve performance bottlenecks in custom ABAP code, database queries, and API payloads.
Qualifications
  • Overall Experience: Minimum 8+ years of hands‑on experience in SAP ABAP development, with a strong evolution from legacy SAP ERP (ECC) to modern S/4HANA environments.
  • RAP Expertise: Proven, hands‑on project experience implementing business objects and services using the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP) (both managed and unmanaged scenarios).
  • SAP BTP Exposure: Strong working knowledge of SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) extension concepts, including BTP ABAP Environment (Steampunk), SAP Integration Suite, or SAP Business Application Studio (BAS).
  • Advanced S/4HANA Concepts: Deep expertise in CDS Views, AMDP, Eclipse ADT, and S/4HANA Extensibility (In-App and Side-by-Side).
  • Integration Technologies: Extensive experience with OData (v2 & v4), RFCs, BAPIs, ALE/IDocs, and consuming/exposing RESTful APIs.
  • Development Tools: Expert‑level mastery of ABAP Development Tools (ADT) in Eclipse.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a closely related quantitative/technical field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • SAP Certified Development Specialist – ABAP for SAP HANA or SAP Certified Development Associate – ABAP with SAP BTP.
  • Experience with SAP CAP (Cloud Application Programming Model) using Node.js or Java.
  • Familiarity with modern developer productivity tools, such as using AI assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor) inside VS Code with Model Context Protocol (MCP) for SAP ADT.
  • Experience with SAP Event Mesh or event‑driven architecture.

This position is a salary grade 7‑8 and ranges from $86,600–$166,200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
