Job description

Description:

BI & Reporting Lead

Position Overview

GardenCore is seeking a hands-on BI & Reporting Lead / Developer to help evaluate, stabilize, and modernize a reporting environment that is currently largely on-premises and built on a number of legacy technologies. This is a highly technical, individual-contributor-oriented role with the opportunity to take ownership of the reporting environment and play a key role in its modernization and transition to the cloud.

The ideal candidate will bring strong Tableau development and administration experience, advanced SQL capabilities, and a solid understanding of ETL and data environments. This person will be comfortable getting into the details, understanding how data moves through the environment, building reports, troubleshooting data quality, and working directly with business users.

This position will be based out of the Peachtree Corners, GA office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the existing Tableau environment, including development, administration, integration, and ongoing support.
  • Evaluate the current BI and reporting environment, identify gaps and opportunities, and develop a roadmap for modernization.
  • Design and build custom reports and dashboards in Tableau based on business requirements.
  • Develop and maintain SQL-based data repositories and data structures to support reporting needs.
  • Work with ETL processes and data feeds to understand how data is received, transformed, validated, and delivered to reporting tools.
  • Assess and QA new data feeds, including data received from large retail customers.
  • Partner with business users to understand reporting requirements, define use cases, and translate needs into effective reporting solutions.
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate data, reports, and integrations.
  • Coordinate with users through testing and implementation of new reports and reporting capabilities.
  • Help modernize an inherited reporting environment following a divestiture, determining what should be retained, improved, replaced, or migrated.
  • Support the transition from an on-premises reporting environment to a cloud-based environment, helping define the appropriate future-state architecture and approach.
  • Balance hands-on development with technical leadership, depending on the candidate's level and experience.

Current Technology Environment

  • The current environment includes a combination of legacy and modern reporting and data technologies, including:
  • Tableau — development and administration
  • SQL / SQL databases
  • ETL / SSIS
  • SSRS
  • Netezza
  • DB2
  • Lawson BI
  • Spreadsheet Server
  • On-premises data and reporting infrastructure
Requirements:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Tableau development and administration.
  • Advanced SQL skills with the ability to work directly with databases and data structures.
  • Experience with ETL processes and data integration.
  • Experience evaluating and working within complex or legacy BI/reporting environments.
  • Ability to understand an existing environment quickly and determine how data flows from source systems through reporting.
  • Experience developing custom reports and dashboards from business requirements.
  • Strong understanding of data quality, QA, testing, and validation.
  • Experience working directly with business users and coordinating reporting requirements and testing.
  • Cloud experience, ideally with experience helping move reporting/data environments from on-premises to the cloud.
  • Comfortable operating as a hands-on individual contributor rather than a purely managerial resource.
  • Experience working in a divestiture, acquisition, integration, or inherited technology environment is a plus.
  • Experience with Real Intelligence is preferred.
