Sanico is a second-generation family-owned distributor of janitorial supplies & professional cleaning equipment. Our goal is to find solutions for our customers. We are looking for a skilled, handy, versatile and professional individual to join our team as a SERVICE TRAINEE. The Service Trainee is an entry-level role that will support Sanico’s Equipment Repair and Chemical Services (Laundry/Warewash) Divisions. The Trainee will learn core competencies and skills in both areas and ultimately spend most of their time in the field tending to customer repair/maintenance needs.    

Sanico's capability to provide high-skill, high-touch SERVICE for our customers is an invaluable complement to our sales operations and an important "value-add" which is integral to our customer relationships.

This position will concentrate on three main areas:

1)      Laundry/Warewash Technical Support: (mostly FIELD)

Reporting to the Chemical Services Division Manager, the Service Trainee learn how to conduct monthly preventive maintenance checks to confirm proper dosage settings and dispensing functionality on commercial dish machines and industrial laundry washing machines. Equipment servicing will generally be performed on customer-owned and leased commercial dish machines, 3-bay sinks and kitchen sanitation dispensing equipment, along with periodic maintenance at industrial laundry facilities.
The Trainee will learn basic skills by shadowing current Field Service Technicians

2)      Equipment Repair: (mostly FIELD, some REPAIR SHOP)

Working in coordination with Equipment Repair personnel in Binghamton and Horseheads, NY, the Service Trainee will shadow senior, experienced Repair Technicians in the field and in the shop, to learn how to diagnose and fix various floor machinery (autoscrubbers, vacuums, etc). 

3)      On-site dispenser installation: (FIELD)

On an ad-hoc basis, the Service Technician will be tasked with supporting the installation of large-scale towel/tissue/hand soap dispenser placements and chemical dilution control systems as necessary.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • TEACHABLE & COACHABLE. Asks questions. Listens first.
  • Able to process, interpret, apply and retain new information.
  • Takes constructive feedback well.
  • Mechanically-inclined, small engine repair experienced Preferred.
  • Plumbing, Electrical Preferred.
  • Prior experience with kitchen, warewash, laundry repair Nice to have.
  • Experience using an electrical meter.
  • High school diploma/GED Preferred.
  • Active, clean driver’s license REQUIRED.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • independently lifting equipment which can exceed 50 pounds
  • frequent climbing into/out of service van
  • able to maneuver up/downstairs, ramps, etc. at service locations
  • handle exposure to weather conditions as the season dictates.

JOB TYPE:              Full-time. Mon-Fri. Remote possibility of occasional night/weekend call.

LOCATION:             Field-based. Some office. Periodic training/division meetings in Binghamton.

TERRITORY:           Support our customers in the Elmira/Corning, Binghamton, Syracuse and Albany-area

WAGE RANGE:      $16-$18 per hour, with Sanico Service Career Ladder providing opportunities for promotion and advancement
