JOB SUMMARYPerforms a range of parking enforcement activities, including proactive parking enforcement throughout the city to ensure compliance with parking regulations and related ordinances. Responsibilities include issuing warnings and citations, responding to public concerns, enforcing parking violations, and supporting safe and accessible public right-of-way use. Work involves coordination with other city departments as needed.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES- Patrol assigned areas by vehicle or on foot to enforce parking regulations and ordinances, issue warnings and citations for violations.
- Monitor compliance with posted parking restrictions, time limits, permit zones, and accessible parking requirements.
- Observe and report hazardous conditions related to parking, signage, or right-of-way obstructions.
- Provide information to the public regarding parking rules, locations, and alternatives.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and case files related to enforcement activities.
- Operate parking enforcement equipment, including handheld citation devices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
CORE COMPETENCIESKnowledge of:- Applicable city codes and ordinances, especially those dealing with parking regulations.

Physical Demands:- Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, which permits the employee to discern verbal instructions and to communicate effectively in person and on the telephone.

- Sufficient manual dexterity, which permits the employee to prepare written reports, and operate a computer.
- Sufficient personal mobility, flexibility, and balance.
- Related job tasks may require lifting or moving up to 50 pounds occasionally, and climbing stairs, stooping, bending, crouching and reaching.
Working Conditions:- Work is primarily performed in the field with frequent exposure to adverse weather conditions, fumes, dirt and dust.
- The incumbent's typical working conditions are moderately quiet with occasional exposure to excessive noise and mechanical, electrical or traffic hazards.
- May encounter other work hazards such as animal bites or contact with blood and exposure to communicable diseases.
- Duties may require some evening, weekend, holiday and/or on-call work.
ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCEEducation and Experience:- High school diploma or equivalent; and
- Some experience dealing with the public in an inspection, investigation or regulatory enforcement capacity, preferably within a governmental agency.
Licenses and Certifications:- Valid Idaho Driver's License.
