Fleet Maintenance Technician / Diesel Mechanic

Sandbox Logistics, Inc.

Position Summary
Sandbox Logistics, Inc., an independent service provider for FedEx Ground, is seeking a skilled and dependable Fleet Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance and repair of our growing fleet of delivery vehicles. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing mechanical issues, and ensuring all vehicles remain safe, reliable, and compliant with DOT and company standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance services, including oil changes, filters, fluids, brakes, tires, and inspections
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, suspension, steering, cooling, and drivetrain systems
  • Troubleshoot vehicle issues using diagnostic equipment and repair software
  • Conduct DOT inspections and ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
  • Coordinate repairs and warranty work with vendors when necessary
  • Respond to roadside breakdowns and emergency repair situations as needed
  • Monitor fleet condition and identify potential issues before they become major repairs
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Assist with inventory management of tools, parts, and supplies
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 2 years of fleet, diesel, automotive, or commercial vehicle maintenance experience preferred
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOT certification
  • Experience with diesel engines, gas engines, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems preferred
  • ASE certifications are a plus but not required
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crawl, and work under vehicles for extended periods
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and shop environments
  • Ability to safely operate tools, lifts, and diagnostic equipment
Preferred Experience
  • FedEx Ground fleet maintenance
  • Step vans and P1000 vehicles
  • Ford, Freightliner, International, and Chevrolet fleet vehicles
  • Fleet management software and maintenance tracking systems
  • DOT compliance and vehicle inspection procedures
