Position Overview

Caregiver’s Home Solutions (CHS) is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Billing Specialist to support billing operations in our Shelton, CT office. The ideal candidate will have experience with healthcare billing, Medicaid Waiver billing, and claims processing in a fast-paced office environment. Sandata experience is strongly preferred.

This position will serve as the primary biller for Medicaid Waiver clients utilizing the following systems:

  • AxisCare

  • Sandata (Connecticut’s Electronic Visit Verification system)

  • DSSMaps portal

This role will also serve as a backup biller for non-Medicaid Waiver clients across various payer sources, including:

  • Private-pay clients, including Long-Term Care Insurance reimbursement claims submission support

  • DSS clients through Social Work Services / Protective Services for the Elderly (PSE) programs

  • Respite Grant clients through Agencies on Aging and various organizations (e.g., the Alzheimer’s Association)

  • Veterans through the VA Community Care Network

  • Respite clients through Medicare’s GUIDE Model partnerships (e.g., Connecticut Hospice/Stand By Me and PocketRN)

This is a fully on-site position reporting to the Managing Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Input data and prepare claims in AxisCare for billing purposes within Sandata and DSSMaps

  • Create, review, and export invoices in AxisCare system for processing finalized claims with Sandata

  • Confirm shifts worked to ensure accurate and timely billing

  • Research and resolve billing inconsistencies, denied claims, and payment discrepancies

  • Maintain client billing records and all supporting documentation

  • Secure and verify prior authorizations, eligibility, and required billing documentation

  • Provide daily billing updates and reports for management review

  • Provide daily billing issues status report for management review

  • Collaborate with internal departments, as well as external payors as needed, to resolve billing concerns and improve workflow efficiency

  • Collect and maintain compliance-related documentation as needed

  • Communicate professionally, clearly, and thoroughly with clients, payers, and internal staff regarding billing matters

  • Always maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance

  • Perform additional billing and administrative projects as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of billing, bookkeeping, healthcare billing, or related experience preferred

  • Experience with Medicaid Waiver billing strongly preferred

  • Experience with Sandata and DSSMaps systems is strongly preferred

  • Experience in home care, healthcare, or service industry billing preferred

  • Familiarity with AxisCare software is a plus

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and QuickBooks

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Professional, dependable, and team-oriented attitude

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role

Work Environment & Schedule
  • Full-time, Monday through Friday

  • 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

  • Fully on-site in Shelton, CT

  • Primarily sedentary work involving extended periods at a computer
