Job description

Job Summary:
TekSynap is a fast-growing high-tech company that understands both the pace of technology today and the need to have a comprehensive well planned information management environment. We are seeking a Senior Systems Storage Engineer to architect, engineer, secure, and maintain enterprise-scale storage platforms supporting mission-critical operations. This role is responsible for the design, optimization, lifecycle management, and modernization of storage infrastructures across multiple enclaves, ensuring high availability, data integrity, resiliency, and compliance with DoD security requirements.
Responsibilities:
• Architect and manage enterprise storage solutions (SAN, NAS, object storage) across on‑prem and hybrid environments.
• Design and implement storage arrays, clusters, and fabric architectures; create standard builds, zoning, and configuration baselines.
• Engineer performance‑optimized and secure storage environments, including provisioning, tiered storage strategies, multipathing, and IOPS capacity planning.
• Develop and implement replication strategies, backup/restore processes, and disaster recovery plans ensuring compliant RTO/RPO.
• Integrate enterprise storage with virtualization platforms (vSphere/ESXi, vCenter, vSAN), backup platforms, and cloud‑based storage services where applicable.
• Conduct performance baselining, capacity forecasting, data lifecycle analysis, and storage policy optimization.
• Implement STIG‑compliant configurations, encryption, certificate management, and continuous compliance reporting.
• Automate storage provisioning and operations using PowerShell, Python, vendor APIs, and configuration management tooling.
• Create and maintain SOPs, design documents, runbooks, and engineering diagrams.
• Lead troubleshooting sessions, perform root‑cause analysis, and support change management processes.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cyber, network, and virtualization teams to support infrastructure modernization.
• Evaluate hardware/software offerings, conduct cost‑benefit analyses, present findings, and support future technology insertions.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Active TS/SCI + CI Poly clearance
• BS, 10-12 years of relevant experience; MS, 8-10; PhD, 5-8
• One of the following DoD 8570/CS-NET-451 certifications: Security+ (CE), SSCP, CySA+, GSEC
• Expert-level knowledge of SAN/NAS architectures, storage arrays (e.g., NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE, Pure), storage fabric technologies, multipathing, and high-availability design.
• Proven experience in multisite storage engineering with HA/DR, replication, snapshot technologies, and performance tuning.
• Experienced with STIGs, secure baselines, auditing, and enterprise-level data protection frameworks.
• Deep understanding of storage networking (Fibre Channel, iSCSI), L2/L3 fundamentals, and integration with enterprise virtualization stacks.
• Hands-on experience with backup platforms (e.g., Commvault, Veeam, Rubrik) and disaster recovery technologies.
• RMF training.
