Job Description
Summary
The Sample Management Specialist will actively work with his/her peers to ensure the efficient operation of the Sample Management group. The position is responsible for the coordination of sample movement over the local site. This involves, but is not restricted to, sample receipt, inventory, storage, return and disposal. The position is responsible to implement and maintain an electronic database that monitors the movement of samples through the project life cycle. The incumbent is responsible for sample control, which includes ensuring inventory records are current, providing storage costs to clients and overseeing the issuance of storage invoices. The incumbent has responsibility for health & safety, environment, productivity, and quality priorities, ensuring that these issues are addressed and optimized. This job description applies to the Site Services Group
Job Functions
  • Establishes methods and procedures to ensure samples are correctly tracked and inventoried.
  • Establish continual improvement procedures for sample tracking.
  • Leading sample control efforts within the Sample Management group.
  • Oversee sample receipt, return, disposal and storage requirements of projects and clients.
  • Prepares projects technical and financial proposals for return, disposal and storage purposes.
  • Carries out the planning, scheduling and coordination required to execute sample control tasks.
  • Implements sample management methodologies for the efficient tracking of all samples on site.
  • Communicate as required with clients, peers and sub-ordinates as related to sample management.
  • Prepare internal reports, as required, related to sample management.
  • Promotes a team environment among staff.
  • Ensures the training needs of staff are met and maintains a motivated workforce.
  • Sets goals and reviews employee job performance and training needs.
  • Constructively resolves work issues where they arise and recommends work measures to improve productivity and the quality of results.
  • Follows all Health, Safety and Environment policies and regulations at all times.
  • Some off-site travel for projects and extended hours on/off-site may be required from time-to-time.

Qualifications
Pay range $18-$24 an hour
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)

Licenses and Certifications
  • Must have clean driving record and valid drivers' license, at all times.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must be able to work with all chemicals, petrochemicals petroleum,
  • Must be able to lift items which can weight up to 50 pounds; climb, bend, reach, without restriction.
  • - Must be familiar with data entry.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • High level of accuracy is required, with special attention to details.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend labels and instructions.
  • Ability to follow instructions independently, with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) and other applications.
