Job description

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour

Do you enjoy knitting, crocheting, and sharing your passion for fiber arts with others? We are seeking a creative, patient, and enthusiastic Knitting & Crochet Instructor to lead hands-on enrichment programs for youth and adults in a fun, welcoming, and supportive environment.

The instructor will teach the fundamentals of knitting and crochet through engaging, hands-on lessons that help participants build confidence and develop new creative skills. Students will learn basic stitches, pattern reading, yarn and tool selection, project planning, and finishing techniques while creating their own handmade projects. The program is designed to encourage creativity, patience, fine motor skill development, and artistic expression for participants of all skill levels.

Program Schedule

Youth Class (Ages 12+)

  • Location: 101 W. La Habra Blvd., La Habra, CA 90631
  • Session 1: August 8, 2026 – August 29, 2026
  • Saturdays | 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
  • Session 2: September 5, 2026 – September 26, 2026

Adult Class (Ages 18+)

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead engaging knitting and crochet lessons for beginner and intermediate participants.
  • Teach foundational techniques, including basic stitches, pattern reading, yarn selection, and project assembly.
  • Demonstrate proper use and care of knitting needles, crochet hooks, and other crafting tools.
  • Encourage creativity, patience, problem-solving, and individual artistic expression.
  • Provide individualized guidance while supporting participants at varying skill levels.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Communicate professionally with participants, parents, and program staff.
  • Arrive prepared with lesson plans, project samples, and instructional materials.

Qualifications

  • Experience in knitting, crochet, fiber arts, textile arts, or a related craft required.
  • Previous experience teaching classes, workshops, or mentoring others is preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and instructional skills.
  • Ability to work with both youth and adult learners of varying experience levels.
  • Reliable, patient, creative, and passionate about sharing the art of knitting and crochet.
