Job description

The Hematopoietic Tissue Biorepository (HTB) is looking for a Research Associate I. The HTB is a biorepository of specimens from patients with hematological malignancies. We collect mononuclear cells from the bone marrow and from blood and viably cryopreserve them for research use. We also preserve other tissues such as plasma, cells from lymph nodes and extramedullary sites of disease and cerebral spinal fluid. These specimens are annotated with disease and other clinical information and provided to investigators for research use.

As a successful candidate you will:

·         Understand and follow standard operating procedures

·         Skillfully perform laboratory techniques in an aseptic environment

·         Use LabVantage, a laboratory information management system, to accession and track cryopreserved samples

·         Maintain privacy of patient protected health information at all times

·         Assist in the clinical annotation of samples

·         Write, revise and / or update standard operating procedures.

·         Work with the HTB team to efficiently process all patient samples delivered to the HTB. This may sometimes lead to working outside of regular 8 am – 5 pm hours.

·         Perform routine laboratory maintenance

Your qualifications should include:

·         Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field with 0 – 2 years of laboratory experience.

·         Familiarity with handling human specimens and aseptic technique is preferred.
