Are you passionate about connecting people to meaningful career opportunities? U.S. VETS is seeking a motivated Employment Specialist to help veterans prepare for, secure, and maintain employment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building employer relationships, coaching job seekers, and supporting individuals as they work toward economic stability and independence.ย 

What Youโ€™ll Doย 

  • Meet individually with assigned clients each week to support job search activitiesย 

  • Assist clients with identifying work history, skills, and employment interestsย 

  • Develop individualized Employment Development Plans that outline goals and target vocational areasย 

  • Support clients in creating professional resumes, cover letters, and master job applicationsย 

  • Identify job opportunities and build strong relationships with employersย 

  • Contact new employers weekly to expand job leads and partnershipsย 

  • Facilitate employment-related workshops including resume writing and mock interviewsย 

  • Meet wage and placement goals set by the Workforce Development Coordinatorย 

  • Document client progress and maintain complete and accurate workforce recordsย 

  • Obtain Employment Verification Letters or pay stubs within the first two weeks of employmentย 

  • Partner with the Workforce Coordinator to meet with employment partners and secure job openingsย 

  • Schedule and support client interviews based on employer needs and client qualificationsย 

  • Maintain an active database of local employers and conduct consistent outreachย 

  • Assist with presentations that highlight client employment backgroundsย 

  • Complete required reports and assist with special projects as assignedย 

  • Attend chamber events, job fairs, and other community activities to expand employment resourcesย 

  • Support daily operations of the Career Centerย 

  • Perform other duties as assignedย 

Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business, Marketing, Social Services, or related field requiredย 

  • Two years of experience may substitute for the degree requirementย 

  • Minimum one year of job development experience, preferably in a government-funded or staffing environmentย 

  • Experience working with homeless individuals or veterans preferredย 

  • Experience supporting clients with multiple barriers to employment preferredย 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to groupsย 

  • Professional manner and appearanceย 

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a teamย 

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to follow directionย 

  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of clients, staff, and community partnersย 

  • Highly motivated self-starter who is organized and detail orientedย 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Internet researchย 

  • Valid driverโ€™s license required with ability to meet company insurance requirements and complete a driver training courseย
