Summary/Objective
The Instructional Coach supports the mission of Summit Academy Management (SAM) by serving as an instructional leader in the school, assisting educators in meeting the diverse needs of their students, and promoting the implementation of evidence-based instructional strategies and curricular programs.
Responsibilities
? Support instructional staff and administrators in the use of curricular resources and the implementation of evidence-based instructional strategies by:
  • Planning and facilitating beginning-of-year and regularly scheduled professional development sessions
  • Providing ongoing and regular coaching to all teachers
  • Assist classroom teachers to:
  • Use all curricular resources with fidelity
  • Implement a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) for instruction
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of all students
  • Collaborate with SAM's curriculum team to ensure:
  • Teachers are well-supported and coached
  • Academic and instructional best practices are implemented with fidelity
  • Teachers are held accountable to SAM's instructional expectations
  • Instruction is guided by collaborative planning and data use
  • Oversight and continuation of the Reading Improvement and Monitoring Plan process
  • Lead, support, and monitor the implementation of SAM-approved core and intervention curriculum programs
  • Coordinate with external professional development providers as needed.
  • Support teachers in:
  • Self-assessment and professional goal setting
  • Monitoring progress toward goals
  • Reflecting on and evaluating instructional practices
  • Conduct differentiated, ongoing "coaching cycles" to support individual teacher growth, including classroom observations, feedback, modeling lessons, assisting with lesson planning, facilitating collaboration, and supporting data-driven instructional decisions
  • Act as the Internal Facilitator of the Ohio Improvement Process, leading collaborative conversations using the 5-Step Improvement Process
  • Serve as a member of the Building Leadership Team (BLT), contributing to school-wide data analysis, planning, monitoring, and evaluation
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with school staff and SAM administration
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current in educational research, curriculum, and instructional strategies
  • Lead and/or support school initiatives, including roles such as:
  • Building Test Coordinator
  • Star Assessment Coordinator
  • Resident Educator Mentor
  • Local Professional Development Committee (LPDC) Representative
  • Third Grade Reading Guarantee (TGRG) Representative
  • Grant and Program Compliance Writer
  • Lead professional learning communities (PLCs) and adult mentoring initiatives as assigned
  • Knowledge of SAM's curricular resources
  • Expertise in a range of evidence-based instructional practices
  • Assessment literacy and ability to interpret various assessment data
  • Skilled in data analysis and making data understandable to others
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills

Minimum Employment Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in education or a related field (or equivalent licensure pathway)
  • Ohio professional educator license (professional, senior professional, or lead professional educator license, or ability to obtain Ohio license within 90 days if currently licensed in another state)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of full-time classroom teaching experience
  • Experience working with diverse learners and students with disabilities
  • Successful experience providing professional development and mentoring
  • Master's degree in education, instruction, or a related field preferred
  • Content area expertise/licensure preferred
