Job Title: Laborer
Location: Woodford, VA
Employment Type: SeasonalOn-Call1099

GovFirst is seeking dependable and hardworking Winter Maintenance Laborers to support winter maintenance operations in Woodford, VA. This position is responsible for preparing snow removal equipment, loading deicing materials, cleaning and servicing equipment, performing facility maintenance, and assisting maintenance crews before, during, and after winter weather events while maintaining compliance with OSHA, company, and industry safety standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare maintenance trucks by installing and removing plows, spreaders, mounting frames, and related equipment.
  • Load salt, sand, and other deicing materials into maintenance vehicles.
  • Assist with preparing equipment before winter weather events.
  • Remove and install plow blades, tailgates, and related equipment.
  • Clean and service plows, spreaders, and other winter maintenance equipment after operations.
  • Assist with end-of-season equipment cleaning and maintenance.
  • Clear sidewalks, walkways, entrances, loading areas, and operational facilities as assigned.
  • Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Perform physically demanding manual labor, including lifting, carrying, loading, and unloading materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Follow all OSHA, company, and industry safety policies and procedures.
  • Wear and properly utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Assist equipment operators and maintenance personnel with assigned duties.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs, including nights, weekends, holidays, and severe weather conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members regarding work assignments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience performing construction, maintenance, landscaping, warehouse, or other physically demanding labor preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations outside normal working hours.

Required Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Equivalent experience or training may be considered.

Licenses, Certifications & Screening:
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred but not required.
  • Completion of all required safety and job-specific training.
