Job description

Description Transportation (Street Maintenance): Seasonal MWIII The City of Roanoke is seeking seasonal Maintenance Worker III -Street Maintenance in the Transportation department. This position performs semi-skilled work and manual tasks such as shoveling, raking and sweeping involved with street maintenance. Equipment used may include dump truck, heavy and light equipment and various hand tools.

Makes repairs to streets, alleys, road shoulders, medians, curbs and sidewalks. Maintain accurate log sheets, checklists and pre-trip sheets. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three years related experience and/or training in street maintenance, driving/operating a dump truck and the performance of heavy manual labor; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requires possession of a valid Virginia Driver's License. Class B Commercial Driver's License is a plus. Basic Work Zone Traffic Control and or Flagger certification is a plus.
