Job Overview: Bilingual Salsa Instructor (Youth & Older Adults)


A Bilingual Salsa Instructor teaches salsa dance techniques, rhythm, movement, and cultural appreciation to diverse age groups, including children, teens, adults, and older adults. This role requires strong communication skills in two languages (commonly English and Spanish), the ability to adapt instruction for varying physical abilities, and a passion for creating an engaging, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Teach beginner to advanced salsa dance classes for youth and older adults
  • Provide instruction in both English and Spanish
  • Develop age-appropriate choreography, warm-ups, and lesson plans
  • Foster a welcoming and culturally enriching classroom atmosphere
  • Adapt dance movements and pacing to accommodate different fitness and mobility levels
  • Encourage participation, confidence, teamwork, and self-expression
  • Maintain classroom safety and proper dance techniques
  • Organize performances, showcases, or community events when applicable
  • Communicate with parents, caregivers, program coordinators, and participants regarding progress and schedules
  • Support physical wellness, coordination, and social engagement through dance


Qualifications

  • Experience teaching salsa or Latin dance styles
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (spoken; written communication is a plus)
  • Strong interpersonal and motivational skills
  • Experience working with children, teens, and/or seniors
  • Ability to modify instruction for various skill levels and physical abilities
  • CPR/First Aid certification may be preferred
  • Background in dance performance, choreography, recreation, or fitness instruction is beneficial
