Position Purpose

Provides strategic leadership and direction for Construction Account Managers team, driving profitable growth through the development, pursuit, and execution of HVAC mechanical contracting opportunities. This role is responsible for establishing sales strategies, developing customer relationships, and leading a high-performing team focused on delivering value-added HVAC solutions to Maintenance Agreement Customers. 

Working collaboratively with engineering, estimating, operations, and business development teams, the HVAC Solutions Manager ensures alignment between customer needs and Bassett's capabilities while achieving revenue, booking, profitability, and customer satisfaction objectives. The position is accountable for coaching and developing Construction Account Managers, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, and ensuring consistent execution of sales processes and customer satisfaction.

Position Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership & Development
    • Lead the technical development and mentoring of Construction Account Managers to increase technical knowledge, capability, and self-sufficiency.
    • Serve as a technical resource for project teams, providing guidance on HVAC, mechanical systems, controls, and construction-related solutions.
    • Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance team effectiveness and technical expertise.
  • Sales Support & Business Development
    • Assist Construction Account Managers by participating in site visits, customer meetings, project walkthroughs, and sales presentations to identify customer needs, develop solutions, and advance opportunities.
    • Assist Project Sales Representatives by providing technical guidance and support for projects being executed through the Service Department.
    • Help drive opportunities through the sales cycle, contributing to project closure and customer retention.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Account & Resource Management
    • Manage opportunities generated from assigned customer accounts and existing client relationships.
    • Evaluate project requirements and coordinate the assignment of internal resources to support estimating, engineering, project development, and execution activities.
    • Monitor project progress and communicate effectively with customers and internal teams to ensure expectations are met.
  • Engineering & Project Coordination
    • Assist CAM’s by providing technical guidance to provide accurate solutions to our clients. Secure additional engineering assistance as necessary.
    • Partner closely with the Director of Engineered Solutions to secure appropriate post-sale engineering resources for project development and construction drawing creation.
    • Assist in coordination between engineering, operations, and sales teams to ensure seamless project handoff and execution.
    • Identify and address project risks, challenges, and customer concerns throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support and maintain a safe and Lean work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary of Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Associate's degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Business, or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction, HVAC/mechanical contracting, building systems, project sales, account management, or a related industry.
  • Strong technical aptitude and understanding of commercial construction projects, mechanical systems, and construction processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective customer relationships while identifying opportunities for growth.
  • Proven experience coordinating multiple projects, priorities, and resources in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, and project management software.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to customer sites, project locations, and meetings as needed.
  • Experience within the HVAC, mechanical contracting, facilities services, or design-build construction industry preferred. 
  • Knowledge of estimating, project development, engineering coordination, and construction drawing processes preferred. 
  • Experience supporting sales teams through technical consultation and solution development preferred. 
  • Familiarity with commercial building systems, energy solutions, controls, and facility optimization projects preferred.
