We are seeking a motivated Outside Sales Representative to grow our industrial pumps, water treatment, and process instrumentation business within an assigned territory. This position is responsible for developing new business, expanding existing customer relationships, and providing technical solutions for industrial and commercial water systems.

The successful candidate will work directly with end users, OEMs, contractors, engineering firms, municipalities, and distribution partners to specify and sell pumps, controllers, chemical feed systems, metering equipment, sensors, flow measurement products, and related technologies.

This is a field-based sales position requiring a consultative approach focused on solving customer challenges, improving system performance, and delivering long-term value.

Outside Sales Representative – Fresno, California

Create and close sales opportunities within the industrial water treatment market.

  • Grow existing customer accounts and increase sales volume.
  • Develop new business through prospecting and relationship building.

Sell industrial water treatment equipment, chemical treatment solutions, and pump systems.

  • Provide solutions for cooling towers, boilers, and industrial process water systems.
  • Consult customers on corrosion prevention, water quality improvement, and system efficiency

Work with industries including:

  • Industrial wastewater treatment facilities
  • Food processing plants
  • Manufacturing facilities
  • Chemical suppliers and chemical processing operations

Create technical and engineered solutions to address customer operational challenges.
Promote and support water treatment programs, equipment, and chemical applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

At Desk -

  • Conduct outbound appointment-setting calls when working remotely or in the office.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding products, applications, and technical solutions.
  • Prepare customer quotations, proposals, and solution recommendations.
  • Work closely with inside sales and operations teams to develop and close opportunities.
  • Maintain customer and prospect records within CRM systems.
  • Follow up on leads and provide ongoing customer support.
  • Prepare quotations, proposals, and product recommendations.

In the Field - 

  • Develop and execute a territory sales plan to achieve revenue and profitability objectives.
  • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with existing customers.
  • Conduct 5–10 customer sales meetings per week.
  • Complete 15+ face-to-face customer interactions weekly.
  • Perform product demonstrations and equipment evaluations.
  • Identify and solve customer challenges related to water treatment, pumps, and process systems.
  • Evaluate customer operations and recommend treatment programs and equipment upgrades.
  • Educate customers on company capabilities, products, and service offerings.
  • Build relationships with plant managers, maintenance managers, engineers, and purchasing personnel.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance, reduce operating costs, and prevent equipment corrosion or failure.

Skills and Specifications:

  • Proven outside sales experience required.
  • Knowledge of industrial water treatment systems and equipment required.
  • Experience selling water treatment chemicals, treatment programs, or related services preferred.
  • Experience with cooling towers, boilers, wastewater treatment, or process water systems preferred.
  • Pump sales or pump application experience preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial equipment required.
  • Mechanical engineering, engineering technology, or related technical background preferred.
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts to customers.
  • Strong customer service skills and an outgoing, consultative sales approach.
  • Self-motivated with the ambition and ability to learn quickly.
  • Effective time management, organization, and multitasking skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong math and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to develop and maintain long-term customer relationships.

Additional Information:

  • Salary: $65,000 – $85,000 plus commission
  • Spanish speaking is a plus
  • Prior industrial sales experience is a plus
  • Water treatment equipment experience is a plus
  • Pump experience is a plus
  • Experience selling to wastewater treatment, food processing, manufacturing, or chemical processing facilities is a plus
  • College degree is a plus
