Job description

Our internal Swiss Army knife. Wear every hat. Build cool stuff. Automate the boring stuff. Solve whatever's on fire. Work with our Founder, COO, Head of Sales, Head of Marketing, and Head of Finance every day. Coolest Associate role in NYC right now.

About Shelf

Everyone is talking about agentic AI. Cool. But nobody is handing the keys to an agent that still guesses. One hallucination in a 20-step workflow, and everything breaks.

The real bottleneck isn't the model. It's deterministic answers. Deterministic answers require an enterprise knowledge vault. We've spent the last eight years building exactly that.

Now we're building the rest of the stack.

About the Role

This is our 2nd Operations hire.

You'll report directly to our VP of Operations and work weekly with our CEO, Head of Sales, Head of Marketing, Head of Finance, and almost everyone in between.

One week you might be designing the executive KPI dashboard. The next, building an AI agent, automating a sales workflow, overhauling our recruiting process, evaluating a new tool, or helping launch an entirely new function.

There isn't a playbook. There isn't a backlog. There are just problems worth solving.

If it helps Shelf scale, it's probably yours.

What You'll Do
  • Automate the Boring Stuff - Build AI agents, automate repetitive work, implement the latest tools, and eliminate manual work across the company.
  • Build Cool Stuff - Design executive dashboards, build databases, create internal tools, and turn messy data into systems people actually rely on.
  • Own Everything In Between - The projects nobody knows who should own usually end up with you. One week you might be helping Sales. The next Marketing, Finance, Legal, People, or Operations. If it helps Shelf move faster, it's fair game.
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience - 2-5 years in Data Analytics, Data Science, Consulting, Strategy, Revenue Operations, Growth Operations, Venture Capital, or a high-growth startup.
  • Analytics & Systems Guru - Comfortable working with modern analytics and business systems such as SQL, Python, Sigma, Hex, Tableau, Power BI, Salesforce, HubSpot, Attio, Clay, Snowflake, Fivetran, or similar tools.
  • AI & Automation Guru - Claude, Claude Code, Codex, ChatGPT, n8n, Zapier, or whatever comes next are already part of how you work. You naturally look for opportunities to automate repetitive work and improve how work gets done.
  • Curious Builder - You're obsessed with learning. Your content diet is AI, startups, operators, podcasts, newsletters, and new products. You're constantly borrowing the best ideas and asking, "How can we do that here?"
  • High Standards - You care about craftsmanship. Clean spreadsheets, beautiful dashboards, polished slide decks, organized documentation, and clear communication aren't nice-to-haves. They're how you work. You sweat the details and believe simple beats complicated.
Why Join Shelf
  • Build the Future of Enterprise AI - Help define how AI-native companies will operate over the next decade.
  • Industry Leader - We've spent the last eight years becoming a leader in enterprise AI knowledge. Now we're building the next chapter.
  • Backed by World-Class Investors - Join a company supported by leading investors and trusted by many of the world's largest enterprises.
  • Accelerate Your Career - You'll wear more hats, own more projects, and gain more exposure in a year than most people get in several. There are very few places where you'll learn this much, this quickly.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Compensation - $120,000-$140,000 base salary + meaningful equity
  • Flexible PTO
  • Medical, Dental & Vision - Comprehensive health coverage
