Job Description

Allied Universal is currently seeking a Business Development Associate. The Business Development Associate is the engine of our top-of-funnel revenue growth. Embedded within a regional sales team, this role will convert inbound marketing-generated leads and build new pipeline through targeted outreach - developing the skills, relationships, and performance record that open the door to a Business Development Manager (BDM) role and beyond.

This is a role for people who want to learn the craft of B2B sales, earn well while doing it, and grow fast in a company with the scale and structure to reward performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Inbound Lead Conversion

  • Respond rapidly to marketing-generated leads - web inquiries, campaign responses, and event follow-ups - qualifying prospects and scheduling meetings with the regional BDM sales team
  • Apply a consistent qualification framework to assess prospect fit including budget awareness, authority, need, and buying timeline
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in Salesforce including contact information, historical activity, and sales process status, ensuring every lead is tracked, followed up, and handed off cleanly
  • Evaluate and clarify client requests prior to proposal submission and participating in pre-proposal meetings; evaluate Requests for Proposal requirements and determine content; as needed, support sales by creating high quality, compelling, and customer-focused proposals
  • Proactively seek out ways to improve the Allied Universal prospect and customer experience; design and implement processes to streamline efficiencies

Outbound Prospecting

  • Conduct targeted cold-calling and outreach campaigns against defined prospect lists provided by the BDM community to establish qualified appointments
  • Build rapport with prospects over time, converting cold contacts into warm, responsive relationships ready for a BDM engagement
  • Develop and maintain relationships with prospects in the database with a consistent focus on advancing them toward a scheduled meeting
  • Engage senior business leaders - VPs of Operations, HR Directors, Facility Managers - with insight-led outreach that earns a conversation

Pipeline Development and Collaboration

  • Research market conditions, evaluate competitive market and provide trend analysis on findings; develop project roadmap for future prospects; determine recommendations for immediate or future bid opportunities
  • Partner closely with BDMs and the regional Vice President of Sales to understand territory priorities, active campaigns, and ideal client profiles
  • Actively utilize Salesforce and sales engagement tools to manage cadences, track activity, and report on conversion metrics
  • Work with marketing team to develop effective lead generation campaigns and targeted campaigns in each market for them to execute on
  • Network within community relationships and actively participate in identified professional associations (e.g., BOMA, ASIS) as agreed upon with the VP of Sales
  • Leverage social media to build professional visibility and positively represent the Allied Universal brand
  • Participate in prospect meetings as requested by BDMs or sales leadership
  • Maintain confidentiality of all prospect, client, and company information
  • Contribute to the region meeting and/or exceeding its sales expectations
  • Complete special projects such a reporting and tracking bid workflow and proactive updating of proposal and material statistics
  • Content management of historical data and company material
  • Track annual sales data

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Sales, or Business related field of study
  • Minimum of one (1) year of inside sales, business development, or marketing experience, preferably with a service-based product
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills; able to deliver sales and marketing presentations with confidence, credibility, and persuasion both over the phone and in person
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize Customer Relationship Management software to drive sales activity and pipeline management (Salesforce preferred; experience with ACT, Goldmine, or similar platforms considered)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented environment, collaborating with sales and operations teams to identify and resolve challenges
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal associates, sales leadership, and external prospects
  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic, metrics-driven environment; demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work independently, take initiative, and follow through on commitments

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated ability to develop the skills, relationships, and business acumen necessary to progress into a client-facing Business Development Manager role

BENEFITS:

  • Base Salary Range: $70,000-$75,000
  • Medical, dental, vision, basic life, AD&D, and disability insurance
  • Eight paid holidays annually, five sick days, and four personal days
  • Vacation time offered at an accrual rate of 3.08 hours biweekly. Unused vacation is only paid out where required by law.
