Summary:

The primary function of the Regional Account Executive, is to take responsibility for a well-thought-out strategic planned approach maintain regional new account growth pipeline and build-on established Best Practices for achieving growth focused on Sierra’s second-to-none value proposition. Execute on those strategies to onboard new clients and place additional items with existing clients through regular customer visits, team-selling and regular support and championing of companies Merchandising initiatives. Regularly measure and share results using consistent, timely data and methodically adjust resource deployment as needed to achieve predetermined goals. As a visible leader, and subject matter expert, the incumbent will demonstrate knowledge in all areas of regional sales activities including but not limited to; Sales processes, product knowledge, product offerings, promotional activities, and ERP Sales functions.  This role is very “hands-on” with a strong focus on customer and sales associate engagement, and strategic sales growth initiatives.   

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Regularly research prospect customer requirements, menu offerings, purchasing volume, current suppliers, etc.; analyze current trends within the market and remain informed of market conditions, product innovations, competitors' products, prices, and sales.
  • Present customers with strong product expertise, new product offerings, and menu ideas as part of the companies long-standing strategic partner value proposition.
  • Develop new and maintain ongoing relationships with prospective client decision makers by building trust, and regularly providing solutions and product knowledge.
  • Provide detailed input to leadership team on regional market trends and opportunities through regular information gathering.
  • Work with Category and Segment Specialists to create order-guide/pricing for prospective accounts; develop and present compelling offering to prospective accounts.

  • Ensure an effective on-boarding process including partnership with Department leaders to solidify additional company/client relationships included but not limited to, transportation, Accounts receivable, and company leadership. Diligently ensure completion of new customer credit application forms
  • Effectively communicate (verbal and written) with customers, management, and teammates in a professional manner.
  • Proactively seek resolution to customer issues and complaints by working with sales representatives and other departments with timely follow up for customers.
  • Enter customer orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Actively listen and accurately support customer inquiries
  • Identify recurring issues and customer complaints and ensure proper departments are engaged for resolution.
  • Strive to ensure customer satisfaction with product and service using customer service principles and techniques. Calmly and professionally engage customer needs.
  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize them to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Establish working knowledge of products for effective selling. Inform customers of current promotions, sale items, product alternatives, and new items.
  • Work in a team environment, with ambition for team success.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations in accordance with company, USDA and OSHA regulations and food safety guidelines.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

  • Perform duties to SQF (Safe Quality Food) level 2 standards and requirements.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), policies and procedures.
  • Understand and complete your responsibilities under Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP)
  • Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the position and/or task.
  • Investigate any accidents, incidents, near misses immediately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Work within established safe work practices, policies, and procedures.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

This job operated in an office, warehouse, restaurant and production environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines as well as oversight of all production room equipment.   Must be able to lift 25lbs occasionally.  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
