Job description

The Clinical Nurse Liaison is an experienced Registered Nurse responsible for providing clinical expertise, guidance, and support to internal teams, traveling healthcare professionals, and healthcare client partners. This role ensures clinicians are clinically prepared, appropriately matched to assignments, and supported throughout their contracts. This individual will collaborate with recruiting, sales, compliance, and operations teams to maintain the highest standards of clinical quality, patient safety, and clinician success. The position also plays a critical role in clinical issue resolution, traveler advocacy, education, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Major Position Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary clinical resource for internal teams, traveling clinicians, and healthcare facility partners.
  • Provide clinical guidance related to scope of practice, competency validation, and patient care concerns.
  • Conduct clinical prescreen interviews and review resumes, skills checklists, and work histories to assess candidate competency and assignment readiness.
  • Support clinician onboarding and assignment success through clinical competency validation and readiness assessments.
  • Provide ongoing clinical support to traveling clinicians, addressing questions, concerns, and practice challenges during assignments.
  • Partner with recruiting, sales, compliance, and leadership teams to align clinicians with appropriate assignments and address clinical performance concerns.
  • Investigate and resolve clinical complaints, incidents, or performance concerns, ensuring appropriate documentation and follow-up.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution between clinicians and healthcare facilities when clinical issues arise.
  • Develop and deliver clinical education and training for internal teams on specialties, competencies, and healthcare staffing needs.
  • Monitor clinical trends, feedback, and incident data to identify opportunities to improve clinician preparation, processes, and assignment success.
  • Support quality and process improvement initiatives that promote patient safety and reduce assignment disruptions.
  • Build trusted relationships with clinicians and facility partners while upholding the organization's clinical quality standards.

Required Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
  • BLS certification required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • Experience in high-acuity or specialty areas (e.g., ICU, ER) preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience preferred
  • Leadership experience (charge nurse, educator, or similar role) preferred
  • Strong understanding of hospital workflows, specialties, and clinical competency standards
  • Ability to assess clinician skill alignment with staffing assignments
  • Strong investigation, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage complex clinical issues and high-stress situations
  • Communication & Collaboration

Work Environment
