Shop Foreman - Structural Steel Fabrication - Base Salary to 80k/year - Irving, TX

  • Our client is a structural steel fabrication company seeking a Shop Foreman to oversee daily fabrication shop operations in Irving, TX. This position is responsible for supervising shop personnel, coordinating fabrication activities, maintaining weld quality, and ensuring production schedules are met. The ideal candidate has supervisory experience in a structural steel fabrication environment, a hands-on welding and fabrication background, and an active Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.

Responsibilities:

  • Open and oversee daily fabrication shop operations
  • Supervise shop personnel across structural steel fabrication operations
  • Read and interpret in-house fabrication drawings and shop drawings
  • Lay out work and assign production across saw, fitting, welding, tacking, and fabrication stations
  • Coordinate fabrication schedules and daily production workflow
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control inspections on structural steel welds
  • Serve as the Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) for the fabrication shop
  • Inspect weld quality prior to shipment
  • Coordinate and schedule required inspections
  • Maintain production workflow, shop efficiency, and fabrication schedules
  • Enforce shop safety procedures throughout fabrication operations

Qualifications:

  • Supervisory experience in a structural steel fabrication shop
  • Hands-on structural steel fabrication and welding experience
  • Active Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, shop drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols
  • Experience performing weld inspections and QA/QC in a fabrication environment
  • Experience supervising welders, fitters, fabricators, and shop personnel
  • Knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes, welding procedures, and fabrication workflow
  • No travel required; must be able to work fully on-site daily
