Job Description:

As a Tax Manager, you will play a key role in managing a diverse portfolio of clients, overseeing tax compliance and planning services, and leading a team of professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax accounting, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering outstanding client service.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee tax compliance, preparation, and planning for a wide range of clients, including individuals, businesses, and nonprofits.
  • Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, providing guidance and support on client work and professional development.
  • Review and manage complex tax returns and filings to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Provide proactive tax planning and consulting services to clients, identifying opportunities for tax savings, credits, and strategies to improve their financial positions.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for tax-related matters.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in tax laws and regulations and ensure that clients’ tax strategies are aligned with the latest developments.
  • Assist in managing client engagements from start to finish, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating with other departments as needed.
  • Support the firm’s business development efforts, including identifying potential new clients and participating in marketing initiatives.
  • Provide guidance on tax research, reporting, and internal controls, ensuring compliance with firm standards.
  • Review and assist with internal and external audits as they relate to tax matters.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree in Taxation is a plus.
  • CPA designation is required. Additional certifications (e.g., EA) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of public accounting experience in tax, with a strong understanding of corporate, individual, partnership, and nonprofit tax compliance and planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Strong leadership and team management experience, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Proficiency with tax preparation software (experience with ProSystem Fx or similar tools is preferred).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines effectively in a fast-paced environment.
