Experience mentoring students of diverse backgrounds is desired.

Required Qualifications*

Successful candidates will have:

  • Experience with and commitment to working in partnership with communities, school leaders, teachers, and/or youth.
  • An established, recognized program of research and publication on civic education, reasoning, and/or dialogue, such as studies of schools and schooling, civic identities, community and political participation, preparation of teachers who support civic learning, and educational opportunity across diverse communities.
  • A commitment to public scholarship that informs civic education and engagement, particularly in relation to schooling, and to diverse learners and communities.
  • Sustained experience with securing grants to support research.
  • A record of outstanding teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level.
  • Experience and expertise in preparing history/social science or social studies teachers to foster civic education in K-12 classrooms.
  • A commitment to the mission, vision and values of Marsal Family School of Education.
  • A sustained interest in collaborating with different constituencies in the Marsal Family School of Education, schools, communities, and the university to engage in design, instruction, and program development.

We plan to fill the position with a start date of August 2027. Salary will be negotiated on the basis of the candidate's experience and qualifications. The appointment will be for the regular nine-month academic year with possible additional remuneration for administrative duties.
