LiDAR Analyst II
Department: Data Processing
Reports To: Data Manager
Position Type: Full-time / Non-Exempt
Primary Location: Austin, or Remote
Direct Reports: None
Interfaces With: Data Manager, Data Team, Field Operations Team, Support Manager, and Clients
Travel: Little to none
Start date: TBD
Position Summary
TheLiDAR Analyst-IIis responsible for the evaluating sensor calibration data, producing deliverable data products, training customers, and documenting workflows. This position serves as the technical bridge between complex sensor data, our internal development teams, and our clients. The LiDAR Analyst-II works closely with the Production,Operations and Customer support divisions to ensure that data quality standards are maintained and customers are adequately trained and have a functional workflow with the necessary documentation for success.
Essential Duties andResponsibilities:
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Data Processing & QC: Calibrate integrated LiDAR systems and perform meticulous quality control.
  • Troubleshooting: Investigate complex data issues, isolate anomalies, and determine causes.
  • Data Delivery: Generate data products that adhere to end user specifications.
  • Workflow Innovation: Evaluate, build, and document highly efficient workflows across various LiDAR and photogrammetry software.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Software Development, Production, Operations, and Sales to guide future tech decisions.
  • Client Success & Training: Conduct technical training for customers, build lasting relationships, and advocate for their needs internally.
  • Reporting: Produce thorough, actionable technical reports resulting from your data investigations.

Position Requirements
Required Qualifications
To be successful in this position, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in LiDAR processing, geospatial data analysis, or geodetics.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Geo-science, Geography, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Direct experience using remote sensing software applications for LiDAR data processing and analysis.

Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are preferred but are not required:
  • 7+ years of relevant geospatial experience.
  • Subject matter expertise in advanced LiDAR system calibration.
  • Prior experience managing technical geospatial projects.
  • Experience teaching or conducting technical training.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-based work.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to read, analyze, and accurately prepare reports, travel itineraries, schedules, contracts, and other business documents on computer screens and printed documents.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with employees, pilots, management, vendors, customers, and external partners via telephone, email, video conferencing, and other communication platforms.
  • Ability to travel occasionally, if required.
  • Ability to work extended hours occasionally, including evenings or weekends, to support operational needs.
