Job description

ICF seeks Insurance Risk Specialists to work in our Disaster Management Division with proficiency in FEMA regulations. This Hybrid, full-time position is open to qualified individuals who currently live in Puerto Rico and are fluent in both Spanish and English.

The individual must be proficient in FEMA regulations pertaining to the application of insurance on federal recovery projects and have worked with businesses or governmental agencies impacted by federal disasters.

Further, the individual will be required to review project documentation, insurance policy details, claims settlements and other related documents that may be related to the development of the project and associated costs to determine whether costs are considered insurable.

Compensation: While the range below is broader, this position will offer a salary range in the 100k to $120k range, based upon % match to job description, location, etc., as determined by the hiring team.

Key Responsibilities

Apply FEMA insurance regulations to federally funded disaster recovery projects.
Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with established procedures, standards and regulations.
Analyze and resolve project, program, and administrative issues.
Coordinate with stakeholders to address project concerns and support successful outcomes.
Keep leadership informed of key issues, risks, and resolutions.
Collaborate with federal, state, and local agencies, subrecipients, and internal project teams.
Demonstrate strong professionalism, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
Manage priorities effectively while meeting established timelines.
Serve as a subject matter expert in your assigned area of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications:

8+ years of professional experience.
5+ years of experience as Property Insurance agent, broker, adjuster, or insurance professional, with strong familiarity with FEMA insurance regulation.
Able and willing to work a flexible scheduled that can accommodate some evening and weekend work as may be required, including multiple time zones for work duties outside of Puerto Rico.
Must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Must be able and willing to work a hybrid schedule, including remote work from a home office in Puerto Rico and in-person meetings with clients, stakeholders, and project partners as needed.
Must have a valid U.S. Driver's license and pass a motor vehicle records check.

Preferred Experience: (may set candidates apart)

Bachelor's degree.
Local/State government customer service experience with a wide range of participants and organizations.

Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Knowledge and efficient use of smartphone apps, data information systems and computer programs related to work requirements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a variety of
stakeholders.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
Able to manage multiple cases and deadlines with professionalism and efficiency
Self-motivated; ability to work independently and manage multiple applications simultaneously.
Excellent writing, computer and presentation skills, with experience writing technical information clearly and concisely.
Problem-solving capabilities and ability to learn quickly and apply knowledge to unique circumstances.
