Job description

Arcosa Shoring Products / Cerda is looking for a Bilingual Health and Safety Support. This position supports and coordinates plant EHS programs, assists with investigations and corrective actions and works under guidance of plant leadership and/or EHS Manager.

Location:ย Houston, TX

What You'll do:

  • Coordinate and participate in plant safety meetings in partnership with plant leadership.
  • Track, review, and maintain plant safety metrics and reports.
  • Conduct safety orientations and onboarding for employees and contractors.
  • Ensure required safety documentation, training records, and certifications are completed and maintained.
  • Serve as a resource to employees and supervisors regarding safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with Arcosa policies and applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
  • Document findings, recommend corrective actions, and follow up on completion of assigned actions.
  • Assist with incident investigations, workers' compensation administration, and return-to-work processes.
  • Help identify root causes of incidents and support implementation of corrective measures.
  • Support implementation and administration of facility-specific EHS programs.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety requirements.
  • Maintain safety communications including: signage, postings, and hazard notifications.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness activities, disaster planning, and evacuation drills.
  • Support Safety Committee activities through meeting coordination, training materials, and follow-up actions.
  • Assist with PPE assessments and ensure availability of required safety equipment.
  • Communicate safety concerns, trends, and observations to facility leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned

What You'll Need:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

  • High School diploma or equivalent.ย 

  • Associate's degree or bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Industrial Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial safety, environmental health and safety, workers' compensation, or related experience.

  • Certifications such as OSHA 30, ASP, GSP, or other safety certifications preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of:
    • OSHA regulations
    • Workers' Compensation processes
    • Hazard recognition and incident investigation fundamentals
    • Manufacturing and industrial safety practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships throughout the organization.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while seeking guidance when necessary.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time salary non-exempt position (7:30AM - 4:30PM)
  • Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas and plant grounds which operate 3 shifts and frequent weekend shifts
  • This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays
  • Candidates should be comfortable working in industrial environments, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
