Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

KLA's Corporate Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance organization is seeking a Product Safety Program Manager) to lead and continuously improve the company-wide product safety and regulatory compliance program. This role provides enterprise governance, strategy, and oversight across KLA business units to ensure products meet applicable safety, EMC, and global market access requirements worldwide, with limited environmental compliance interface as environmental product compliance is managed by KLA's Environmental Product Compliance team. The role interfaces with senior leadership, drives cross-functional alignment and audit-ready execution, and represents KLA externally in relevant industry forums (e.g., SEMI).

Responsibilities:

  • Own the corporate Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance Program, including the governance model, operating cadence, and cross-division alignment
  • Define and maintain corporate requirements and processes for product safety and market access (e.g., SEMI S2/S8/S14, CE/UKCA, NRTL/CB Scheme, EMC, Machinery/MD/2006/42/EC or successor, and other country-specific regulations as applicable)
  • Take ownership of the implementation of KLA's Machinery Regulation initiative, including interpretation of requirements, internal readiness planning, cross-division execution alignment, and tracking actions to closure
  • Provide oversight of division execution for evaluations, testing, certifications, and technical construction files; ensure timely closure of findings and corrective actions
  • Define expectations for compliance records, document retention, and technical file consistency (in alignment with document control and division teams) to support certifications, audits, and customer inquiries
  • Drive corporate-level risk management for product safety: define escalation pathways, maintain decision logs and risk acceptance criteria, and escalate issues and drive closure with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Manage KLA's product safety incident reporting system, including intake, triage, investigation coordination, corrective/preventive action tracking, and trend reporting
  • Provide input to KLA's PLC process to ensure appropriate product safety and regulatory compliance gates, deliverables, and requirements are embedded in the product release path
  • Provide oversight to ensure divisional product safety and compliance activities and related programs adhere to corporate policy, including periodic reviews and escalation of non-conformances
  • Establish an audit-ready compliance posture by defining evidence expectations, conducting periodic self-assessments/internal reviews, and driving corrective action plans to closure
  • Establish and report program metrics (e.g., certification lead time, finding closure rate, audit readiness, field issue trends) and lead continuous improvement initiatives
  • Partner with KLA's Environmental Product Compliance team, Supplier/Procurement, Quality, Legal, and Engineering to ensure clear interfaces and handoffs between product safety/market access activities and environmental compliance requirements
  • Own external engagement and representation: participate in SEMI and other industry/standards bodies; monitor emerging regulations and standards changes and translate them into actionable internal requirements
  • Manage and optimize relationships with third-party test labs, NRTLs, notified bodies, and consultants; ensure consistent scope, quality, and cost control
  • Develop and deliver training and communication to improve awareness and adoption of corporate product safety processes across KLA
  • Coordinate responses to regulator and customer product safety/market access inquiries, including evidence packages, declarations, and alignment with Legal/Quality communications as needed
  • Support customer and field needs by enabling accurate responses to safety/compliance inquiries and coordinating evidence packages as required

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
BS in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, Chemical) or other relevant technical discipline; MS preferred.
10+ years of experience in product safety, regulatory compliance, product stewardship, or related roles supporting complex electromechanical systems (semiconductor capital equipment preferred).
3+ years leading cross-functional programs (multi-site/global) with demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority; people management experience a plus.
Working knowledge of global product safety and market access frameworks (e.g., SEMI S2/S8/S14, IEC/EN/UL 61010/60204/62368 as applicable, CE/UKCA, EMC, machinery safety, and country-specific approvals).
Experience developing or governing processes (policy, procedures, templates), establishing audit-ready evidence expectations, and driving adoption through training, communication, and stakeholder engagement.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level reporting and external representation.
Ability to interpret standards and regulations and translate them into practical engineering and process requirements.
Proficiency with MS Office; comfort using systems for metrics tracking, issue management, and document control.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience representing a company in standards bodies or industry forums (e.g., SEMI) and coordinating internal positions and ballots.
Experience managing relationships and deliverables with third-party test labs/notified bodies and negotiating scopes, schedules, and costs.
Familiarity working with environmental compliance programs (e.g., RoHS/REACH) and material declaration workflows in partnership with a dedicated environmental compliance team.
Experience building governance, training, and audit-ready documentation systems for compliance programs.

Strong verbal and written command of the English language.
Ability to travel as needed for supplier/lab engagement, site support, customer discussions, and industry forums (e.g., SEMI).

Doctorate (Academic) Degree and related work experience of 3 years; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 6 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 8 years
