Position Summary
Provide Transit Safety services for assigned City facilities and infrastructure, including vehicles and equipment; protect from unlawful intrusion and criminal acts and ensure public safety.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Essential and Supplemental Functions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the functions listed below. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  1. Provide transit safety services for assigned City facilities and vehicles; conduct periodic patrols by foot, bicycle or vehicle to ensure safe practices and environments are maintained on facility grounds, on city property or in city vehicles.
  2. Provide crowd and traffic control as needed in and around City transit property and vehicles.
  3. Respond to calls for service and reports of crimes in progress; call for emergency medical or police services as needed; assist law enforcement agencies as needed.
  4. Conduct preliminary investigations to determine if a crime has been committed; determine whether further action is warranted; document incidents and prepare reports.
  5. May conduct periodic fire and safety hazard inspections of Transit City facilities; develop recommendations for enhancing safety and security precautions.
  6. May monitor and operate a security computer system; inspect and verify property and/or vehicles entering and leaving facilities.
  7. Provide general assistance to the public; receive and document all lost and found articles; respond to and resolve inquiries.
  8. Prepare a variety of reports regarding transit safety enforcement activities.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
High school diploma or GED; and
Two (2) years of security, customer service, or parking operations experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Must be able to successfully complete and pass the Albuquerque Police Department Transit Safety Training Academy.
May be required to work weekends/holidays/odd days off/shift work.
Working Conditions
Environmental:
Office environment; exposure to potentially hostile environments; exposure to computers; exposure to inclement weather. Working in and around motor vehicles; exposure to noise, fumes; work odd shifts, weekends and special events.
Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, talking, hearing, near and far acuity, depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision; and standing and walking for prolonged periods of time; occasional climbing stairs, bending, reaching, balancing; running and light carrying.
