Job description

Thisposition is responsible for the efficient tactical planning and execution ofplanned outages at non-Nuclear generation facilities, as well as support forforced and maintenance outages. Responsibilities include field supervision ofTVA and contractor work forces and daily job oversight.
  • With oversight from the Outage Manager, develop plans and supervisesimplementation of planned outages at non-Nuclear generation facilities frominitial planning through final project closure.
  • Directs and monitors outage progress. Provides employee, craft, andcontractor direction, to ensure work flow is supporting overall outageobjectives, while maintaining highest standards for safety, environmentalcompliance, quality, and housekeeping.
  • Provide oversight of plant, partner, contractor, and LTSA work activitiesto maintain knowledge of work status and ensure optimum work flow.
  • Oversees development of work packages, step text, Job Safety Analysis,purchase orders, and material reports.
  • Ensures work is properly planned to always reinforce safety,environmental compliance, continuous improvement, and encourages employeeengagement, inclusion, feedback, and lessons learned.
  • Interfaces with site Maintenance group to ensure efficient use ofresources for plant work orders.
  • Reports and communicates with site management, Generation Servicesleadership, and other key stakeholders outage progress and any emergent issueson a periodic basis set forth by the Outage Manager.
  • Provides periodic updates to site management with analysis of theschedule and progress of the outage plan and budget. Resolve conflict andpriority changes for safe, efficient work flow and positive outage progress.
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, technical support, andmanagement to resolve emergent issues. Assess and prioritize scope changes andimpacts to outage plan and budget.
  • Support cost tracking and outage budget forecasting.
  • Performs periodic safety walkdowns to ensure safe work practices,quality, and housekeeping standards met.
  • Document “as found” and “as left” conditions for assessment. Ensurepost-maintenance and functional testing is successfully completed prior toMaintenance Release.
  • Immediately terminates any activity not carried out in accordance withapplicable procedures, specification, regulation, requirements, or acceptablepractices that jeopardizes safety, equipment, or power generation. 

 MinimumQualifications

Education – Bachelors degree in Engineering,or other related technical degree, or equivalent education, training andexperience.

Experience

  • 5 - 8 years experience in the electric utility industry, with 3 to 5 years in project management, major maintenance, or combustion / steam turbine, and/or 5 years planned outage management/direction experience.

Certification/License,etc — ProjectManagement Certification is desirable.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of combustion or steam turbine components, component repair technologies, industrial mechanical disassembly and reassembly practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products and experience with Primavera is a plus.
  • Maximo user knowledge required. Must be capable of travel and working at multiple locations.
