Job description

University Safety Operations Center Specialist

As a University Safety operations center specialist, you will utilize various campus safety software applications and extensive closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems to monitor SCAD Atlanta buildings and grounds for criminal activity. In the event of an emergency, you will use basic crime analysis software to assist in the deployment of field personnel and direct them to areas of concern. When necessary, you will retrieve camera footage for use in court testimony and/or testify in criminal proceedings. Among other duties, you will also dispatch campus safety units to calls for service and manage campus transportation requests.

This position is identified as essential personnel in the university's emergency and disaster response plans. In the event of a university closure or evacuation, all essential personnel shall report.

Minimum qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts

Preferred qualifications:

  • One to two years of experience in a public safety or military command or dispatch center

Certificates, licenses, and registrations: Valid driver's license

Travel required: 10-20%

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
