Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Operations Manager to support day-to-day operations for an established industrial distributor and service provider specializing in process control, pressure protection, automation systems, and related technical services.

This position will oversee daily warehouse and service operations, including inventory, shipping and receiving, logistics, safety, quality, facility activities, and employee development. The Operations Manager will work closely with employees and leadership to keep operations running efficiently, track performance, address issues, and identify practical opportunities for improvement.

This is an excellent opportunity for an operations professional who has developed a solid foundation in warehouse, distribution, logistics, or industrial operations and is ready to take on broader responsibility. We are looking for someone who is confident in their experience but also collaborative, adaptable, and open to learning established processes and ways of doing business.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Logistics
  • Oversee daily warehouse, shipping, receiving, assembly, repair, and material-handling activities.

  • Coordinate operational priorities to ensure customer orders and service commitments are completed accurately and on time.

  • Monitor workflow throughout the facility and help resolve day-to-day operational issues.

  • Support efficient shipping, receiving, warehousing, packaging, crating, and transportation activities.

  • Track operational performance and maintain visibility into productivity, inventory, quality, safety, and delivery metrics.

  • Use KPIs and operational data to identify trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Ensure employees follow established operational procedures and standards.

  • Communicate priorities, issues, and operational updates to leadership.

  • Work collaboratively with other departments and nearby locations to support business and customer needs.

Inventory & Warehouse Management
  • Support accurate inventory through cycle counts, physical inventories, process controls, and consistent warehouse practices.

  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and assist with corrective actions.

  • Monitor material flow, warehouse organization, and inventory accountability.

  • Help address shortages, excess inventory, and material availability concerns.

  • Maintain organized and efficient warehouse and storage areas.

  • Track inventory and warehouse metrics and address recurring issues.

Safety & Quality
  • Promote a safe work environment and reinforce established safety expectations.

  • Conduct safety observations, inspections, and other required safety activities.

  • Ensure employees follow safety procedures and use required Personal Protective Equipment.

  • Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions.

  • Ensure required employee safety training and certifications remain current.

  • Support quality investigations and help implement corrective actions.

  • Maintain required safety, quality, and operational documentation.

Team Leadership
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and support to employees.

  • Establish clear expectations and hold team members accountable for performance.

  • Coach employees and provide regular, constructive feedback.

  • Assist with onboarding, training, and cross-training employees.

  • Help identify opportunities to strengthen team capabilities and operational coverage.

  • Promote teamwork and collaboration across departments and locations.

  • Address employee or performance concerns professionally and consistently.

  • Lead by example and remain actively involved in daily operations.

Process Improvement
  • Identify practical opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency, inventory accuracy, and customer service.

  • Review workflows and procedures to identify unnecessary steps, delays, or recurring problems.

  • Use operational data and employee feedback to help determine appropriate improvements.

  • Support implementation of new processes and monitor results.

  • Encourage employees to identify problems and contribute ideas for improving operations.

  • Help standardize processes and maintain consistent operating practices.

Facility & Vendor Support
  • Coordinate routine facility maintenance, inspections, and repairs.

  • Schedule and track inspections and service for facility equipment.

  • Coordinate with contractors and third-party vendors performing work at the facility.

  • Maintain appropriate maintenance, inspection, and vendor documentation.

  • Identify facility or equipment concerns and communicate needs to leadership.

  • Help ensure contractors and vendors complete work safely and according to established requirements.

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of supervisory or leadership experience within warehouse, distribution, logistics, manufacturing, industrial service, or a related operations environment.

  • Hands-on experience with warehouse operations, shipping, receiving, inventory control, logistics, and material handling.

  • Experience supervising, coaching, or training employees.

  • Experience tracking KPIs, operational metrics, inventory, productivity, or other performance data.

  • Working knowledge of workplace safety and quality procedures.

  • Experience using ERP, inventory, warehouse, or other business systems.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general business applications.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Strong follow-through and attention to detail.

  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to troubleshoot day-to-day operational issues and make sound decisions.

  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating with leadership and other departments.

  • Willingness to be actively involved in warehouse and facility operations rather than managing exclusively from an office.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in an industrial distribution, service, manufacturing, or technical equipment environment.

  • Experience supporting industrial equipment, valve service, process control, automation, or related operations.

  • Experience with cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliation.

  • Experience with continuous improvement or process-improvement initiatives.

  • Experience coordinating facility maintenance, inspections, contractors, or vendors.

  • Forklift experience or the ability to become qualified on stand-up and sit-down forklifts.

  • Spanish-language skills are a plus.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the workday.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required.

  • Ability to work safely within warehouse, shop, and industrial environments.

  • Ability and willingness to wear required Personal Protective Equipment.

  • Ability to work occasional overtime or weekends based on business needs.

  • Ability to travel periodically to nearby locations for meetings, training, or operational support.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, approachable operations leader who understands the fundamentals of warehouse operations, logistics, inventory management, safety, and team supervision. They have enough experience to confidently manage daily operations and hold employees accountable but are also collaborative, coachable, and willing to learn the organization's established processes.

They are comfortable spending time on the warehouse floor, working alongside their team, reviewing operational metrics, solving problems, and following through on details. They don't need to have managed a large multi-site organization or held an executive-level operations position. Instead, we're looking for someone who has built a strong operational foundation and is ready to continue developing while taking ownership of a busy facility and supporting nearby operations as needed.
