Job description

Job Summary:

If you believe fire prevention is both a science and a strategy, this role puts you at the center of protecting mission-critical operations. As the Fire Safety Lead at Centrus Energy, you'll oversee and strengthen the Fire Safety Program within a highly regulated nuclear environment. Working alongside Fire Services, Nuclear Safety, Engineering, and Operations, you'll ensure systems, procedures, and people are prepared-keeping facilities compliant, resilient, and ready.

What You Will Do:

You will implement and maintain a compliant Fire Safety Program aligned with regulatory directives and company requirements, developing and updating Pre-Fire and Pre-Incident Plans while partnering with site response teams and local agencies on drills and lessons learned. You'll oversee fire system inspection, testing, maintenance, impairment control, and return-to-service activities; support hot work permitting; contribute to fire hazard analyses and design reviews; and assist with investigations and corrective actions. The role includes coordinating contractor support, maintaining fire safety policies and procedures, delivering training, performing change evaluations, and stepping in for the Fire Safety & Emergency Management Manager when needed-all while promoting safe, code-compliant operations.

We'd Love to Hear From People With:

  • Bachelor's degree in fire protection, fire science, or closely related discipline, or equivalent technical experience
  • 3+ years of fire protection experience in industrial, process, or regulated facilities such as DOE, nuclear, chemical, or large manufacturing environments
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply fire protection and life-safety codes and standards
  • Experience with inspection, testing, and maintenance of industrial fire protection and fire alarm systems
  • Strong technical writing and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a "Q" clearance.

A Successful Candidate Brings:

  • State or national fire services certification
  • Experience integrating fire protection requirements into site procedures and worker safety programs
  • Background supporting fire hazard analyses, design reviews, or fire investigations
  • Current "Q" or "L" clearance.

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

This position will require a pre-employment background check and a pre-employment drug test.

Centrus Energy and all subsidiaries shall abide by the applicable legal requirements. We prohibit discrimination against qualified individuals based on their status as protected veterans or individuals with disabilities and prohibit discrimination against all individuals based on their race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or national origin.

This position requires the successful candidate to obtain and maintain a Q security clearance.  Candidates for positions requiring a security clearance are required to be tested for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR 707.4 prior to an offer of employment being made.  In addition, once employed, employees will become part of a random drug testing program and may also be tested in the event of any incident causing injury or causing damage to property, or if it is determined that there is a reasonable suspicion the employee is under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  This position will require preemployment background check on the part of the Company and in order to receive a Q security clearance, a background investigation by the Federal government.  Subsequent Federal government reinvestigations may be required.

Centrus Energy Corp. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
